Moko Pet and the Healing Power of Manuka Honey

In our modern world with ever-evolving technology, new pet medications are constantly being developed and making their way to the market. Although a net benefit for everyone, it can sometimes feel like we’ve forgotten where we came from. Our furred friends often possess a stronger bond with nature than we do, so wouldn’t it make sense to treat them with something natural?

One of these products is the newly created Moko Pet line, a series of natural topical products made from Manuka honey. Throughout thousands of years of history, honey has been used as a natural agent for wound healing. Studies in more recent times have revealed that the golden substance actually has antibacterial/antifungal properties and may also be effective in treating burns, ulcers, and wounds. Manuka honey is a special honey with high levels of methylglyoxal (MGO), the compound responsible for honey’s antimicrobial action.2 Harvested from Manuka flowers in New Zealand, it possesses up to 100 times the MGO concentration of normal honey.3 In particular, it is noted to be effective against strings of pathogens that have built up resistance to common antibiotic therapy. With much in vitro data, the FDA has approved formulations of it that are being utilized in human wound dressings.1 Manuka honey has demonstrated numerous uses already, and undoubtedly holds the potential for even more.

Moko has taken this very same key ingredient and created a line of skincare products for our pets, allowing them to also reap the benefits of this natural healing wonder. Their current lineup consists of five diverse products with different use cases, all of which can be found at VetRXDirect.

Moko Pet Manuka Dog Wash

The Manuka Dog Wash is a nourishing cleanser suitable for all dog breeds and is noted to soothe and hydrate the skin. Rich fatty acids, vitamin E, and proteins work synergistically to rehydrate your dog’s coat.

Moko Pet Manuka Ear Wipes

To deeply cleanse your dog’s ears, look no further than the Manuka Ear Wipes. These wipes take advantage of the honey’s inherent humectant (retaining moisture) properties, avoiding drying out the delicate skin of the ear canal while reducing infection risk.

Moko Pet Manuka Hot Spot

The Manuka Hot Spot is the go-to for skin irritation and redness, offering a calming cream that can help reduce inflammation from hot spots. A hypoallergenic formulation helps to avoid potential reactions that more sensitive canines might have with harsher products.

Manuka Paw Balm

Crafted from organic butters and oils, the Manuka Paw Balm benefits the skin on the paw pads and nose by alleviating dryness. Perfect for a dog that’s always out and about, this balm can improve and protect paw health.

Moko Manuka Wound Ointment

The Manuka Wound Ointment leverages the healing properties of honey. This ointment is formulated to thoroughly relieve any cuts, scrapes, or abrasions a dog might pick up throughout their day.

Moko’s product line represents a return to the organic roots of medicine, while still relying on clinical data and science to support its efficacy. The untapped power of Manuka honey and its current benefits offer a glimpse into the future, while building off the natural foundations of our past.

Where Does Moko Manuka Honey Come From?

Moko Manuka honey is harvested from the company’s family farm deep in the Wairarapa region of New Zealand. It is the same certified, lab-tested, medical-grade Manuka honey they use for their human products at First Honey®. Learn more.
