Relief for Ferals
From UndisclosedComments about Capstar 11.4mg for Cats 2-25 lbs, 6 TabletsI purchase the tablets periodically to give to feral cats who I see scratching a lot. Unfortunately I cannot do much else since I cannot pick them up. However I also do provide catnip which also helps repels fleas. -
It Works!
From UndisclosedComments about CapstarI have 3 indoor cats and a pitbull that is house trained. Zoey, the pitbull, was bringing the fleas in with her and the cats were getting miserable with fleas just as she was. We bought a box for cats and one for large dogs. These pills work so good the cats were thoroughly confused by what happened next. This stuff drives fleas crazy where they apparently get real active and then they die. The cats are flea free after just 2 doses. Zoey's fleas are a bit different in that she still goes in and out, but still isnt as bad as she was. She got 2 pills the first month. All in all, great product. My cats and dog approve. -
In a pinch, this works
From UndisclosedComments about CapstarThis product rid my pups of fleas while I worked on ridding the house & yard. -
I would buy this product again.
From UndisclosedComments about CapstarThis product does what it states. However, it only kills the adult fleas, so I will have to buy more pills in order to keep up with reproductive cycle of the flea. -
It works
From UndisclosedComments about CapstarGreat for a quick knock down. Wish it was easier to administer. The cat that needs it the most is almost impossible to give a pill -

From Apollo Beach, FL, USAComments about CapstarBought this after many recommendations and very pleased. -
Does the job
From Blodgett, OR, USAComments about CapstarSassy and I hike in the woods almost everyday and I used Capstar to treat her temporarily while I decided what product to use long term i.e. collar or oral since I do not want to use the oily type you apply to their skin. She has allergies during the growing season so its kind of hard to determine if the scratching was fleas or her allergies, and I did not find any flea corpses. I had to hide it in food which was unusual since she usually eats anything presented. She didn't get sick or have digestive issues so that's a plus. Hope this helps.

Q & A

If I crush up Capstar and put it in my cats food, will they be able to smell it? Cats have such a keen sense of smell and thats the only thing that worries me. But by putting it in their food is the only choice I've got to administer this into their systems.?
-
Capstar tablets are unflavored and are able to be crushed and added to small amounts of food for easier administration. Every cat is different, so it is possible your cat will still reject the medication. However, according to the manufacturer, many owners have had success administering Capstar to their cat in this manner. When adding crushed Capstar to food, only mix the medication with a small amount of food to ensure the cat consumes the food and the entire dose.

Is this a pill or a chewable tablet? If chewable how palatable is it for cats? (If they don't like it is it small enough to poke down throat??
-
The manufacturer states that Capstar is a small, easy to dose tablet. Capstar is not a chewable tablet. To give CAPSTAR Tablets, place the pill directly in your pet’s mouth or hide it in food. If you hide the pill in food, watch closely to make sure your pet swallows the pill. If you are not sure that your pet swallowed the pill, it is safe to give a second pill. For any other questions please consult your veterinarian to figure out what is best for your cat.

do you have a pill for fleas & mites?
-
Buste, Capstar (nitenpyram) is an oral insecticide medication approved for killing adult fleas in dogs and cats. It does not kill ticks or immature fleas (flea eggs and larva). There is no data reported on activity of Capstar against mites, but as mites are related to ticks, Capstar may not be active against them. Capstar is considered a fast solution to a flea infestation. Since Capstar does not kill eggs or immature fleas, it is not effective alone for prevention. It would be important to discuss with your pet’s veterinarian the best medications to use in combination with Capstar for prevention and treatment of fleas and mites for your pet. How many months' supply in a box??
-
Georgia, Capstar packages contain 6 tablets. They are not necessarily considered a 6-month supply however, as the tablets are not a flea preventive. They are intended to treat a current flea infestation and can be given again as often as once a day to treat re-infestations. Environmental flea treatment should be a part of getting rid of any flea infestation, to help prevent re-infestation. Thank you, VetRxDirect

do you need a prescription to purchase capstar ??
-
Capstar, an oral flea treatment, does not require a prescription, however, we recommend working with your pet's veterinarian for ongoing flea control. Capstar kills adult fleas, but does not kill flea eggs, or provide protection against future infestation, so it should be used with a flea preventive. Thank you, VetRxDirect
