Great company! Best deal on trilostane!
From New Jersey, USAComments about Trilostane (Compounded)My dog sammie needed 90 mg of Trilostane twice a day. The pills are not generally available in this strength so I had to purchase 60 and 30 mg pills separately. Before I found Vetrxdirect, the medication was costing me over $300.00 a month. Vetrxdirect is able to compound the medication for me in the required 90 mg dosage per pill. I am saving over $100.00 a month with Vetrxdirect. They are very professional. Ordering and shipping is fast and easy. They contact my Vet directly for refills, saving me time. The medication to treat my Sammies Cushings disease is so expensive so I am very thankful for the savings I am getting from Vetrxdirect. I also get Thyroid medication for Sammie and my other dog Trapper at a substantial savings. I would recommend Vetrxdirect to anyone. -

working well
From NY, NYComments about Trilostane (Compounded)My dog was put on 10mg of Vetoryl for Cushings and it was not working well for him. He would get very tired and spacey and there was no change in his profuse urination. The 5 mg doses twice a day are making a big difference and I'm very happy we were able to get this dosage compounded. -

My 30 pound Whippet has been taking 10mg vetoryl 2 times daily. What would be the conversion and dosage if I were to request the trilostane suspension??
-
The Trilostane (Compounded) suspension is a corn oil based, liquid suspension containing the contents of the Vetoryl Capsules and formulated to the strengths listed on the VetRxDirect home page. As an example, the Trilostane (Compounded) 5mg/ml suspension would require a dose of 2ml twice daily, to be equivalent in dose to a 10mg Vetoryl capsule, twice daily. The oil based Trilostane (Compounded) suspension does not require refrigeration, does require shaking prior to each use and has a beyond-use-date (date at which the product should no longer be used) of 90 days from the date of compounding. Please speak with your veterinarian to determine if a suspension dosage form of trilostane would be appropriate for your dog

If my dog is currently taking 30 mg vetoryl, What would the liquid dosage be if we switched? Trying to compare price if we change?
-
There is a Trilostane 30 mg/mL concentration available, so if your dog is needing 30 mg daily then it would be 1 mL daily with the compounded product. Please check on the VetRxDirect website for current pricing for this product.

Is it okay to plan on a 0.2mL (i.e. 0.2mL of 50mg/mL for 10mg dose) or will it be too difficult to measure and administer this amount??
-
This should be difficult to measure as we will give you a syringe with the appropriate markings to measure this amount accurately.

Is this drug compounded from an FDA approved source such as Vetoryl ? Is the compounded Trilostane FDA approved just like Vetoryl ??
-
Vetoryl is a FDA approved product for the the treatment of hyperadrenocorticism. Compounding trilostane allows for a pharmacist to create a medication that is tailored to the specialized needs of an individual pet according to a veterinarian's prescription. The FDA does recognize that compounding plays an important role in tailoring medications to meet the needs of a patient/pet. Trilostane is compounded by VetRxDirect's expert compounding staff and is available in many dosage forms to tailor to your pet's needs. does this product come in liquid form?..........how administered? how do you determine mg dosage? Thanks!?
-
VetRxDirect offers trilostane in a capsule formulation under the brand name "Vetoryl." It is available in a variety of strengths including 5mg, 10mg, 30mg, and 60mg capsules. In addition, trilostane is also available through VetRxDirect as a compounded capsule formulation. This may be a suitable option for you if your pet's required dose is not commercially available. The medication is administered to the pet by mouth, often in some food or a treat to make it more appealing and palatable. The appropriate strength is dependent upon many factors such as diagnosis, species, concurrent medications, and weight. Please consult your pet's veterinarian to determine which strength would best suit your pet's needs. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Hi! I was wondering what you used to suspend the trilostane? Is it oil or water-based??

The trilostane suspension is an oil based suspension with silica gel used to suspend the active drug. VetRxDirect places a 90 beyond use date, or the date on which the suspension should no longer be used, after compounding. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Can the oral suspension of Trilostane cause teeth deterioration? I've noticed since I've been giving my 93# dog the medicine since the end of October, his teeth have gotten quite brown. Gums are red as well. They were pretty white prior.?
-
The most common adverse effects seen with trilostane use are lethargy, weakness, loss of appetite for a fews day, vomiting and diarrhea. I am unable to find any medical literature associating teeth or tongue discoloration or deterioration with the use of trilostane. I recommend contacting your veterinarian to determine the cause of this. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My 11 year old 54 lb dog has been on a 2 x daily dosage of 0.5 liquid trilostane for 17 days. She is still exhibiting symptoms of Cushings including excessive drinking, urination, panting at rest and increased appetite. How long before she improves??
-
Trilostane is a common treatment for dogs with high cortisol levels or Cushing’s disease. The starting dose of the medication is determined by the weight of the pet and then adjusted according to the cortisol levels and clinical symptoms. Cortisol levels are typically checked 10-14 days after beginning treatment and the dose is then adjusted accordingly. Reaching the optimum dose to control symptoms and reduce side effects may take several dose adjustments. It is important to follow up with all appointments. It may be beneficial to contact your veterinarian and report your dogs continued clinical symptoms after 17 days of treatment. Thank you, VetRxDirect
