How do you use Telmisartan?

  • This drug is best given on an empty stomach but may be given with a small amount of food to increase acceptance. If your animal vomits or acts sick after receiving the drug on an empty stomach, try giving the next dose on top of a small amount of food or with a small treat.
  • Pregnant women should avoid handling this medicine. If this is not possible, it is strongly advised that disposable gloves be worn while handling this medication. Donʼt reuse gloves. Once used, the gloves should be disposed in the trash.
  • This medication can be given for various lengths of time. Be sure you understand how long your veterinarian wants you to continue giving this medication. 
  • Before stopping this medication,talk to your veterinarian, as there may be important reasons to continue its use.
