What is Revolution for Cats?
- Revolution is a prescription topical heartworm preventative and parasiticide medication for cats.
- Revolution contains Selamectin to protect cats against fleas, heartworm, ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms for one month.
Why is Revolution used for cats?
- Revolution is a prescription, topical heartworm preventive.
- Revolution kills adult fleas and prevents flea eggs from hatching for one month, and is indicated for the prevention and control of flea infestations.
- In cats, Revolution also treats and controls ear mites, as well as intestinal roundworm and hookworm infections.
What else should I know about Revolution?
- Revolution is for topical treatment in cats eight weeks of age and older.
- Bathing or shampooing the cat 2 hours after treatment will not reduce the effectiveness of Revolution against fleas.
- Bathing or shampooing the cat 24 hours after treatment will not reduce the effectiveness of Revolution against heartworm.
- The American Heartworm Society and most veterinarians recommend an annual heartworm test before prescribing a heartworm preventative for your cat.
- Revolution is sold as a prescription drug in a maximum of a 12-month supply per cat per year.
- To buy the same size for more than one cat, add what you need to the cart. You can split the amount among different cats at the checkout!
- Wash your hands after use and wash off any product in contact with the skin immediately with soap and water.
What problems could my cat have with Revolution?
- Stiff hair, clumping of hair, hair discoloration, or a slight powdery residue may be observed at the treatment site in some animals. These effects are temporary and do not affect the safety or effectiveness of the product.
- Rare side effects of Revolution that usually are not serious may include skin irritation or loss of hair at the site of application.
- Rare side effects that may be serious or indicate a serious problem may include depression lack of energy or weakness, stumbling or collapse, dilated pupils, excessive drooling, seizures or coma. If you see any of these signs, contact your veterinarian immediately.
How do you use Revolution?
- Apply to the skin as directed by your veterinarian.
- Firmly press the cap down to puncture the seal on the Revolution tube; a clicking sound will confirm that the cap has successfully punctured the seal. Remove the cap and check to ensure that the tip of the tube is open.
- To administer the product, part the hair on the back of the animal at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the tube on the skin and squeeze the tube 3 or 4 times to empty its entire contents directly onto the skin in one spot until empty.
- Check the tube to ensure that it is empty. Do not massage the product into the skin.
- Due to alcohol content, do not apply to broken skin.
- Avoid contact between the product and fingers.
- Do not apply when the haircoat is wet.

Revolution
From Orange, TX, USAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsI first bought Revolution from my vet and it did not seem to do as good a job as it claims it would. But it is known to get more effective on the second dose. That was what this purchase was and it is doing a better job of reducing fleas now with the second dose. I like the results and plan to keep using it. -

My dogs hate heartworm meds, neck application AAA+
From Bay Area, CAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsMy 3 Maltese, our senior Maltese hates heartworm meds and won't take any oral medication. The 2nd, most of the time will take anything, but once in awhile she is resistant, stubborn and won't take it orally. Our 3rd, scrafs everything down. I didn't realize a liquid application on back of neck was available until I spoke to the breeder of our last Maltese and they recommended Revolution. Never an issue getting their monthly meds now. I always give all 3 dogs mid month and about 2 days before their bath day. Once given, I wait 2 full days before bathing just to be sure it has absorb completely. Our dogs have tested negative for heartworms every year so far. Also, we are not in a high flea area, so never a flea on them. -

Complete care
From Vancouver, WAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsMy 11 1/2 and 10 1/2 year old dogs both use Revolution. My oldest dog has used the product since he was a puppy and has never had fleas, ear mites, or heartworms. He has had one tick but I know there are some exclusions for certain types of ticks. This is more expense than what you can buy in the store but it is all inclusive. -
It always works
From Vallejo, CA, USAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsMy three cockers have been on Revolution forever. One is 13; one is 11; and the newest is 2. They all do well and have no fleas, mites, heartworm. I would recommend Revolution and I always do to folks who have flea problems. -
great service
From Metairie, LAComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsThe price was great & there was a coupon which made it even better. They contacted the vet for me & the shipping was fast. Everything was great. I will order again. -
fantastic service
From UndisclosedComments about Revolution (selamectin) for CatsThe entire process of placing an order, verification of prescription, waiting and receiving med took no longer than 4 days. They also add a doggie treat. Needless to say, their prices are very good-lower than anyone else's and the service and speed of service at that are both efficient and highly satisfying. Revolution is a fantastic product.
Q & A
-
How long do I wait to give meds again??
-
The frequency of administering Revolution for cats depends on what it is being used for. For heartworm prevention and flea control, apply topically each month. If you're treating ear mites, apply topically once and then repeat application one month later if necessary. For hookworms and roundworms, apply topically once. If your cat has ancylostoma ceylanicum, apply topically once. For cheyletiellosis, apply topically once a month for a total of 3 treatments. For biting lice and notoedric mange, apply topically once. Please consult your veterinarian with any further questions and dosing directions specific to your pet.

I have a 2.3 pound teacup yorkie she is about 7yrs old. I have used revolution before. our vet use to give us some samples but cant get anymore. I don't remember which one we used. What strength? I saw for puppies under 5lbs. but she isn't a puppy. Which one would I need??
-
The dose for Revolution is based on the weight of the pet, rather than their age. Dogs up to 5 pounds will get the 15 mg of selamectin per tube dose. Talk with your veterinarian to determine if Revolution is the appropriate treatment for your pet.

Does this work on nasal mites? Is it safe for border collies??
-
Currently, there is no drug approved for the specific indication of nasal mites. However, the use of Revolution has been recommended and is indicated for dogs older than 6 weeks of age. There has been some evidence to suggest potential nerve tissue damage in Collie-type breeds due to a genetic defect when on Revolution. It has been observed that Collies should tolerate the medication at labeled doses, however its use should be used with caution. It would be to your best interest to contact our veterinarian to discuss the benefits of Revolution for your dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect
