A good investment
From UndisclosedComments about RenaPlusSince my geriatric cat was diagnosed with kidney disease, it was recommended to me by her vet to give her a potassium supplement to help her to continue to feel good. I came across this product online and decided to give it a try. I administer it to her with a syringe and it has been fairly easy to give though sometimes she's just not in the mood to take it so I just have to be patient and give it to her a little at a time when she is more likely to accept it. -
Absolutely will buy this again

I have bought and will continue to buy this product
From undisclosedComments about RenaPlusWe have two aging cats with with mild kidney problems who require potassium supplements. The RenaPlus keeps their potassium levels within the normal range, and it is convenient and much less expensive buying it through VetRxDirect than directly from the vet. -

Q & A
-
What are the other ingredients aside from potassium gluconate? This product caused my cat to have diarrhea. We are trying the powder. I'd like to know all ingredients so we can avoid similar products.?
-
Oral potassium gluconate is known to cause GI distress, such as diarrhea, as a potential side effect. It is possible that any formulation of potassium gluconate could cause this same result and may also be dose dependent. In addition, the manufacturer states that each form of the RenaPlus varies in inactive ingredients and would differ between the powder, tablet, and gel. Please consult your veterinarian to determine the best dosing and product needed for your cat.

My cat is finicky about taking stuff. She eats around it in her food. Is this gel something I can put on her leg and maybe she'll lick it off? Is there a special trick I could do to get her to lick it off my finger or a spoon? Thank you?
-
The manufacturer indicates that RenaPlus Gel has a very pleasant taste for cats. The manufacturer states that to initiate interest in taste, place small amount on the animal’s nose or on the roof of its mouth. Gel may be placed on the paw after initial interest has been established.

My cat is diabetic. Is there a lot of sugar in the gel? Can you give me the number of carbs in a teaspoon? Her blood sugar has shot up. I don't know if it is related to the gel.?
-
According to the manufacturer, for a ½ tsp dose of 2 mEq potassium, sugar content in the formulation is < 5mg. Total carbohydrates are slightly higher (approximately 50mg), but the carbohydrates are in the form of indigestible cellulose. Administration according to label dose is unlikely to alter blood glucose. Please speak with your veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns.

Our vet practice is charging me $24 for the Vet One RenaPlus gel 5 oz tube and putting a prescription label on the tube. (1) Is a prescription from my vet required to order this gel? (2) If so, would I email a copy with my order to your company? Thank you.?
-
RenaPlus is a prescription-only medication. You can mail the prescription to us or we can fax your veterinarian a request to obtain a prescription. Please place an online order and we'll work with you to plan the most convenient course of action.
