- Use as directed by your veterinarian.
- Manufacturer suggests giving 100 mg/kg by mouth once daily with meals. Dosage should be adjusted based on serial serum phosphorus determinations every 2 to 4 weeks or as indicated by your veterinarian.
- Manufacturer administration techniques: Aluminum hydroxide powder can be easily mixed with canned or fresh food. For dry food, place the kibbles in a plastic baggie with the powder and shake the baggie to mix it, which allows the powder to adhere to the dry food. You can also slightly warm the dry food in the microwave (5-8 seconds) and then shake the powder with the food in a baggie. *DO NOT MICROWAVE PHOS-BIND* The outer fatty coating of dry food (called digest) softens with warming and will let the powder attach more readily.

Actually Tasteless
From UndisclosedComments about Phos-Bind 35g PowderMy Magneto was born with small kidneys so the doctor recommended this to help reduce the amount of phosphate build up. I was worried he would turn his nose at it because of the taste but I've mixed it with wet food and he gobbles it right up. I've even dusted it on dry food in a pinch and he didn't mind. -

My dog is 11lb. How much should i give with each meal??

The manufacturer recommends giving 100 mg/kg daily, and 1 scoop contains 500mg. So an 11lb dog would get approximately 1 scoop. We recommend talking with your pet's veterinarian before giving this product.

"The manufacturer recommends giving 100 mg/kg daily, and 1 scoop contains 500mg. So an 11lb dog would get approximately 1 scoop. We recommend talking with your pet's veterinarian before giving this product". This is a answer you gave for someone wanting to know what to give their 11 lb dog. How can you tell them to give 100 mg daily and that 1 scoop contains 500 mg. You then tell them to give a scoop. So, it the answer 1/5th of a scoop for 100 mg or 1 scoop for 500 mg?

My question is about dosage. The bottle says to give 100 mg daily with meals. Doesn't it need to be based on body weight? There's a big difference in a 10 pound cat and a 50 pound dog. I need to know how much to give to a 44 pound dog. Thanks?
-
Phos-Bind should be used in consultation with your pet's veterinarian and regular blood work. Your veterinarian should also determine the appropriate dosage for your pet. The manufacturer's recommended dosage for this product is 100 mg per kilogram (2.2lb) of body weight.

Can I mix my dogs dosage of Phos-Bind(5 scoops a day) with water and give to her syringe-style into her mouth? She is not eating food it is mixed with as it appears she finds it unpalatable. Thanks! KZ?
-
The only ingredient in Phos-Bind is aluminum hydroxide and this should be tasteless. If your dog is not eating it with food however you could try mixing it into other things like yogurt or baby food. The manufacturer states that Phos-Bind could be given with water and a syringe as long as it doesn't clump up and clog the syringe. The important thing to remember is that Phos-Bind must be given with meals as it works by binding to dietary phosphorus and thus helps prevent absorption.

My container of Phos-Bind did not come with a scoop. What is the equivalent measurement in teaspoons? Thanks.?
-
One scoop will be equivalent to ½ teaspoon. Try checking the bottom of the container, it is possible the scoop shifted during packaging or shipment and is now covered under the powder.
