OraVet Plaque Prevention Gel for Dogs and Cats
OraVet Plaque Prevention Gel helps reduce the formation of plaque and tartar in your pet’s mouth. It acts as an invisible barrier to help prevent bacteria from sticking to the surface of the tooth. The tasteless, odorless formula is better tolerated by pets and has a quick and easy once a week application. Simply dip the applicator with gel and swab over the upper and lower gum lines at the base of teeth. Ideal as an at-home dental health plan, and can be used in conjunction with tooth brushing, dental diets and chews. Consult with your veterinarian before using this product, and follow their recommendations for regular dental health exams for your pet. Each box contains 8 treatments with applicators.

Directions for Use:
Apply ORAVET™ Plaque Prevention Gel once a week or as directed by your veterinarian to significantly reduce the formation of plaque and tartar.
Before applying ORAVET Plaque Prevention Gel, wipe any excess saliva from the front of your pet's teeth and gums, using a paper towel or a clean, dry cloth.
1. Peel back the protective cover from one tray of ORAVET Plaque Prevention Gel.
2. Put a generous amount of gel on the applicator.

Now spread the gel on the lower teeth and gums at the gum line.
4. Repeat the same procedure on the other side.

So glad my vet told me about this stuff
From undisclosedComments about OraVet Plaque Prevention GelI've been using this on my Greyhound for just about a year. I recently took him to my vet for a dental and she said he didn't need much. She didn't even have to anesthetize him. She just gave him a little sedation and in less than 15 minutes, he was done! This stuff is awesome. You just have to be diligent at doing it every single week. Try to pick the same day each week and DO NOT brush his teeth in between applications because you will be brushing off the protective coating. -
Highly recommended by my vet
From Chicago, IlComments about OraVet Plaque Prevention GelI have 2 retired racing greyhounds. My greyhound vet worked at the race track for 15 years and this product was strongly recommended by her. I apply it with my finger, it's a little messy but oh well. I've been using it on them since August. I wasn't sure if I was doing it right or if it was working but when I saw her last weekend she said I was doing a great job and their teeth look as good as they did when she did their dental in August. She said if I do it faithfully every week, they should never need another dental. -

The person to recommend this to me is a greyhound owner and I notice the reviews are from multiple greyhound owners. Us this a coincidence or are these breed specific? Also, can and should this be used with the oravet chews or do they take the coating off??
-
The manufacturer recommends waiting 2 weeks after ORAVET Plaque Prevention Gel is applied to begin giving dogs OraVet Dental Hygiene Chews, as the mechanical abrasion of the chews will remove the sealant. This product may be used in all breeds of dogs.

Is Oravet gel safe for dogs with a history of seizures??
-
Although the manufacturer does not have any studies with direct focus on dogs with a history of seizures, this is not expected to be an issue. The most common side effects include stomach upset (diarrhea, vomiting) and irritation of the gums. If your dog experiences significant diarrhea and/or vomiting, this should be reported to the veterinarian as soon as possible in order to replete fluids/electrolytes and to discuss whether or not this product is appropriate for use in your pet.
