Eye Care for Senior Dogs
After my senior dog had eye surgery, his opthamologist recommended that I insert the gel into both his eyes twice a day to prevent them from drying due to age. That's for the rest of his days. The cost at the doctor's is $18 a tube, which lasts a month, but I can get this product through VetRx for about half the price. I order a few months' worth to get free shipping, too.

Keeping my dog's eyes healthy
From UndisclosedComments about Optixcare Ophthalmic Eye Health, 20g TubeMy dog Remington is diabetic. I'm a Vet Tech at a specialty hospital. The Veterinary Opthalmologist recommended using this Optixcare to help keep his eyes as healthy as possible (since diabetes can cause cataracts). I have been using the Optixcare for a year now. Vet Rx Direct is one of the few places that i can find this Optixcare and they always sends it in a timely manner when I order it. -

My dog ate a tube of this! Is there anything in it that could hurt her? She is acting normal and is 75 pounds.?
-
After further research into each ingredient, there shouldn't be any toxicity to your dog from eating the one tube. If your dog starts to act differently than normal then please consult your veterinarian.

A few weeks ago my poor doggie had a terrible accident involving a baby gate resulting in trauma to her eye. She's now blind in that eye (and has a cataract in the other, ugh). So she's almost completely blind. Our vet gave us the original Optixcare to use in her newly damaged eye to keep it hydrated as there's some nerve damage and she's not blinking as often as she should. The gel doesn't seem to be lasting too long...would the Optixcare Plus be a better option? With the hyuorlonic acid added to it I'm hoping it may last a bit longer/give her more moisture??
-
Optixcare Ophthalmic Plus contains hyaluronic acid which is an additional lubricant that provides moisture to the eye. There is no information specifically stating that this product has a longer duration of action compared to the standard Optixcare, but it may provide additional moisture to the eye.

Is Optixcare a possible substitute for Optimmune 0.2%??
-
Optimmune is a prescription ointment that contains cyclosporine, an immunosuppressant that helps increase tear production, and is used to treat dry eye conditions like KCS. Optixcare is an eye lubricant to help replenish moisture and relieve symptoms of dry eye. These products serve two different functions and cannot substitute for each other.

The Optixcare Eye Lube is a gel formula, so the number of doses in each tube will vary depending on how much and how often it is used.

Are "Optixcare Eye Lube Plus" and "Optixcare Eye Lube plus Hyaluron" the same product that simply had its name changed? I've been using the former on my cat's eyes at her physician's direction, but am not seeing it listed on any website. Please advise - thank you.?
-
These are two different products that vary in their ingredients. The Optixcare Eye Lube is a plain lubricating gel, and the Eye Lube plus Hyaluron contains additional hyaluronic acid for additional hydration. Both of these formulas are available for purchase through the VetRxDirect website, and are found on the drop down menu listed next to "select a product".

Is Optixcare Plus Hyaluron the same as Optixcare Eye Health with the addition of Hyaluron?
-
I found my answer. In case someone else is wondering: Eye Health is a type of vitamin for the eyes. It is not a lubricant. Hyaluron is only added to lubricants.
