What is GentaVed for Dogs?

  • GentaVed is a prescription topical spray that treats superficial bacterial skin infections and relieves itching and inflammation.
  • GentaVed contains gentamicin sulfate, an antibiotic, and betamethasone, a steroid. 

Why is GentaVed used for dogs?

  • GentaVed contains a broad-spectrum antibiotic, gentamicin, to treat bacterial infections of the skin. 
  • GentaVed is prescribed to control itching and inflammation associated with skin infections. 

What else should I know about GentaVed?

  • This product is for topical use in dogs only.
  • Store upright between 20°-25°C (68°-77°F), excursions permitted between 15° and 30°C (between 59° and 86°F).

What problems could my dog have with GentaVed?

  • If sensitivity occurs, discontinue treatment and contact your veterinarian.
  • Administration of the recommended dose beyond 7 days may result in delayed wound healing. Animals treated longer than 7 days should be monitored closely.
  • Avoid oral ingestion.
  • If oral ingestion should occur, contact your veterinarian.  
  • Prolonged use or overdose may produce adverse effects such as increased thirst, urination, thinning of skin or tears, infections at site of application.

How do you use GentaVed?

  • Use as directed by a veterinarian.
  • Directions for use: Prior to treatment, remove excessive hair and clean the lesion and adjacent area. Hold bottle upright 3 to 6 inches from the lesion and depress the sprayer head twice. Administer 2 to 4 times daily for 7 days.
  • Each depression of the sprayer head delivers 0.7 mL of GentaVed® Topical Spray.

What is in GentaVed?

  • GentaVed contains gentamicin sulfate, an antibiotic, and betamethasone, a steroid.
  • Ingredients: betamethasone valerate, gentamicin sulfate, hydrochloric acid, isopropyl alcohol, methylparaben, propylene glycol, propylparaben, purified water
