- Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus is a prescription immunosuppressive eye drop used to treat dry eye and immune-related eye conditions in dogs.
Why is Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Ophthalmic given to dogs?
- Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Ophthalmic is used to help relieve the swelling and irritation caused by dry eye conditions and immune system disorders.
- It may also be prescribed to treat other immune-mediated eye problems.
What else should I know about Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Compounded Ophthalmic?
- MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride. The base of the MCT solution is derived from coconut oil and is used to limit irritation.
- Store at room temperature, away from moisture and sunlight.
What problems could my dog have with Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Compounded Ophthalmic?
- Side effects may include mild burning, stinging, irritation or redness. It may also cause eyelid spasms and loss of hair around the eye.
- Do not stop the medication without asking your veterinarian.
How is Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Compounded Ophthalmic used for dogs?
- Administer this drug to your animal’s eye in the exact amount that your veterinarian has prescribed.
- Wait 5 minutes after applying Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus Ophthalmic to the eye before administering any other eye medication.
- Wear gloves when applying this medication. Pregnant women should NOT handle this drug.
- Use proper administration techniques to avoid contamination of the Cyclosporin / Tacrolimus. Do not touch the dropper tip or allow it to touch your animal's eye or any other surface to prevent contamination. Keep the cap on when not in use.
- If any residue is left on your animal's face after giving the eye drops, gently wipe it off with a damp cloth or tissue.
