I will continue to buy this product.
My dog injured her legs and hips some time ago. She is a big dog, about 143 pounds.Started using Cosequin DS two months ago with an initial dosage of 4 tablets a day for 6 weeks now on 3 tablets per day. Her condition has significantly improved. Hard to tell if it is because of the reduced activity or the Cosequin. Probably a little bit of both. I question the pain relief value of MSM, doesn't seem to have much effect. I will coninue to give her Cosequin for the rest of her life. For pain, we are looking to our vet for a carprofen. If your dog has damaged hips or knees this product will not fix it but it can help ease their symptoms.

This makes a big difference!
From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Sprinkle Capsules for Small Animals 60 Soft ChewsI started giving this to my 16 year old pupper and within days she was walking much much better. I have tried glucosamine and other things in the past, but they all seemed to have flavor that deterred her from eating them. These have no flavor and I can mix them up in her food so she is sure to get her dose everyday. I now give it to all my dogs.-
Try it- you'll be surprised with the results.

My dog loves Cosequin soft chews
From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Sprinkle Capsules for Small AnimalsMy dog loves the Cosequin soft chews. She has been taking Cosequin for about 6 months. It seems to be helping. She would occasionally yelp when she was running in the house. She has not helped for several months. My vet recommended Cosequin. -
I will be buying this product again!
From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Sprinkle Capsules for Small AnimalsI realize the purchase price is daunting. However, this cost goes down once your pet has been on the product for a month as they require fewer "chews" per day. The improvement in our two senior citizens has been dramatic. As a side benefit, one dog's coat has improved considerably. -
This product has helped my 14 year old for a long time.

Q & A
-
Does this medication help in relieving pain?
-
Cosequin Maximum Strength’s active ingredients help to support healthy cartilage and joint mobility through a mild anti-inflammatory response that may help with collagen production, and reducing joint fluid and cartilage-destroying enzymes. This product does not target pain reduction specifically, however, these effects may help to alleviate potential joint discomfort. Please speak to your veterinarian to determine if this product would be a good fit for your dog.

My dog passed away a week after starting these. I know there had to be underlying health problems, but did these speed up the death of my 8 year old dog ??
-
We are sorry to hear of your dog’s passing. Cosequin Maximum Strength Joint Support is a commonly recommended supplement that is labeled for use without a prescription. Speak with your veterinarian regarding your concerns as they would have access to the full health history for your pet

My 14 lb poodle is currently taking Rimadyl for two weeks. Still limping. Would this be in addition or replacement for that medication? She is 7 years old. Thank you.?
-
Cosequin is a nutritional supplement that helps support joint health. It contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. Rimadyl is a prescription medication that contains Carprofen, a non-steroidal pain and inflammation reliever. Because Cosequin is a supplement, and is not a replacement for a prescription medication like Rimadyl. It does not have any known drug interactions, but you should consult with your veterinarian before administering a new supplement.

Are the soft chews really soft? I've purchased other products that have advertised as soft chews but turned out to be hard as a rock and hard for my 20 lb. dog to chew. It says he would take 1/2 daily loading and 1/2 every other day. Is that correct??
-
They do not seem to be rock hard and we have never had any complaints about them being hard for dogs to take. The recommended dose for a 20 pound dog would be 1 chew for the initial 4-6 week period and then 1 chew every other day for maintenance. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Description says, "... ingredients in Cosequin works together to maintain the structure of the cartilage in your dog’s joints while inhibiting the enzymes that break down cartilage." , could this also inhibit the enzymes my dog needs for food digestion??
-
Debbie, Cosequin DS Plus MSM inhibits an enzyme that is not the same as the enzymes for food digestion. The medication will not inhibit the enzymes related to food digestion for your pet. Thank you, VetRxDirect
