I recommend highly
From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Joint HealthWhen we adopted our dog we didn't know that some hit his spine and causes him to have a pinched nerve. He does real good and if dogs have a problem with arthritis this is the stuff -
I will continue to buy this product.
From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Joint HealthMy dog injured her legs and hips some time ago. She is a big dog, about 143 pounds.Started using Cosequin DS two months ago with an initial dosage of 4 tablets a day for 6 weeks now on 3 tablets per day. Her condition has significantly improved. Hard to tell if it is because of the reduced activity or the Cosequin. Probably a little bit of both. I question the pain relief value of MSM, doesn't seem to have much effect. I will coninue to give her Cosequin for the rest of her life. For pain, we are looking to our vet for a carprofen. If your dog has damaged hips or knees this product will not fix it but it can help ease their symptoms. -
Works Great !
From undisclosedComments about Cosequin Joint HealthMy 10 year old yellow lab/golden retriever has been taking this for the 6 months and he has been taking the stairs and walking longer walks. -
Very helpful for joint pain
From VAComments about Cosequin Joint HealthI give Cosequin DS Plus MSM to one of my older dogs with arthritis. It makes a big difference as she is now more active and likes to go for a longer walks. I crush the pill and add it to her food. She does not mind the taste at all and gobbles it all up!

If my dog currently doesn't have related issues & just want this purely for preventive & maintenance, do I still follow the initial dose and lessen the dose after 6 weeks? Or can I already start with the maintenance dose at the onset??
-
The initial loading dose for 4-6 weeks is to have glucosamine reach therapeutic levels. Starting at the maintenance dose may take longer to reach the therapeutic levels needed to provide clinical relief Before initiating or altering any supplement for your dog, you should contact your vet. They have the most up-to-date medical history of your dog and can provide the best recommendations for them. Please consult your veterinarian.

I have two large breed dogs (3 year old English Mastiff 210lbs and 4 year old Boerboel Mastiff 125lbs - back legs have knee deformities) The vet suggested Cosequin for both of our babies. What dose would I give these large breed dogs??
-
The manufacturer has specific recommendations including a loading dose period (4-6 weeks) and then maintenance doses. Their recommendations are listed below and are a general guide for administering the supplement to your dog, but your dog's veterinarian should make the ultimate decision on dosing. Loading Dose: 60+ lbs 3 chewables once daily Maintenance Dose: 60+ lbs 1-2 chewables once daily

My 14 lb poodle is currently taking Rimadyl for two weeks. Still limping. Would this be in addition or replacement for that medication? She is 7 years old. Thank you.?
-
Cosequin is a nutritional supplement that helps support joint health. It contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and MSM. Rimadyl is a prescription medication that contains Carprofen, a non-steroidal pain and inflammation reliever. Because Cosequin is a supplement, and is not a replacement for a prescription medication like Rimadyl. It does not have any known drug interactions, but you should consult with your veterinarian before administering a new supplement.

My dog is currently on the 132 ct blue labeled bottle. I have the option to order 250ct in the orange labeled bottle but I am not sure if they are the same tablet.. How can I tell that the labels are all that is changing due to a change in tablet ct??
-
We believe based on your description of the bottles you currently have the 132 count Cosequin DS Plus MSM product, while the 250 count orange label bottle is the Cosequin DS, without MSM. It's best to ask your pet's veterinarian if the MSM is needed. We hope this information is helpful. Thank you.

Are the soft chews really soft? I've purchased other products that have advertised as soft chews but turned out to be hard as a rock and hard for my 20 lb. dog to chew. It says he would take 1/2 daily loading and 1/2 every other day. Is that correct??
-
They do not seem to be rock hard and we have never had any complaints about them being hard for dogs to take. The recommended dose for a 20 pound dog would be 1 chew for the initial 4-6 week period and then 1 chew every other day for maintenance. Thank you, VetRxDirect
