Good product for my elderly dog
My elderly dog has mild kidney dysfunction and this medication alleviates her symptoms of excessive thirst and frequent urination. It's expensive and needs to be kept refrigerated. Buying it online through Vet RX is much more economical than buying it at the Vet's. I was concerned about shipping something that needs to be kept cold. Vet RX did an excellent job and I bought 90 days worth at a time and will continue to do so as long as needed.

Would not recommend
I recommend not buying this product. The capsule is to big for a cat. It is highly recommended not breaking the capsule open and putting on your cats food. This medication needs to be ingested whole.
I tried putting this capsule in a pill pocket, which did not work. My cat broke the capsule open in her mouth. Maybe 45 minutes to an hour later, my cat was walking and completely lost her balance and just fell on her side 2 different times. My cat became very fatigued and unresponsive.
I tried every way with giving my cat this capsule, and all were unsuccessful. The only part that concerns is the above statement with my cat becoming fatigued, unresponsive, and just falling over 2 different times. I saw in my cats eye she was not good. I cannot and will not use this product.
I am disappointed in the fact that nothing is described as possible side effects. If those were stated, I would not have purchased or tried this product.

Saved his life
From UndisclosedComments about Azodyl Small Capsules, 90 ctRecommended by the vet. Turned my kitty around from being put down to enjoying his life again. He can eat and not throw up, goes in and out like he used to, plays with his scratcher toy and no longer has 'kidney breath' -
Saved my cats life
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylRecommended by the vet. Never had any idea how a probiotic could turn my cats life around. He is back to enjoying life, enjoying his food, playing and being a happy kitty again. -
Medication seems to be helping
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylMy 16 year old cat had failing kidneys and a friend suggested Azodyl. Her cat was in renal failure and it help so am trying it for my cat. I have noticed he is going to the bathroom more which is great. -
I would buy this product again.
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylLuna, my twenty year old cat has been using Azodyl twice a day for over three years. It's a small capsule and very easy for her to swallow. Her health has been very good since she has been taking Azodyl. I am very pleased with this product and have recommended it to others. Azodyl has to stay very cold at all times and Vet Rx Direct makes the necessary arrangements to ship it in a special cold pack. They are excellent in always shipping on time. I am very pleased with this product and Vet Rx Direct. Karen -
I have Azodyl on autodelivery.
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylProper medication like Azodyl has gotten Bebe's stage 3 kidney disease under control. -
I would buy this again.
From UndisclosedComments about AzodylOur sweet Cavalier, Penny, was born with a kidney function at 20%. Though a grim diagnosis, we have been keeping her base levels stable and our vet and myself attribute it to diet and Azodyl. This is our 3rd bottle and have no plans to discontinue the use. It has been helping flush her system and we have been very happy with the results! -
Arrived in a styrofoam box with 2 ice packs next day.
From Baltimore mdComments about AzodylCat is about 14 years old and his kidneys are failing quickly (creatinine: 4.2, BUN: 80). Put Kittycat on Azodyl (probiotic that literally puts nitrogen-eating bacteria to cat's colon) and Epakitin (phosphorus-binder), both products are from the same company. In theory, the decline of renal function can be slowed by low phosphorus (Epakitin) and low nitrogen (Azodyl) intake. We will see. As for the medicine itself, Azodyl is a small skinny capsule, which can be administered easily without any pill pocket (lubricate the capsule with some cream cheese or Greek yogurt, then make your cat sit down and lift his chin up, then insert the pill to his throat). The capsule needs to make to the colon first, so it should not be broken and fed with food. Also, it is said you should administer the pill at least one hour before eating. -
Excellent Results
From Tampa, FLComments about AzodylI have a foster Pomeranian who has kidney stones and bladder cancer (TCC). He previously had bladder stones that were removed and has had a UTI that has persisted since January in spite of multiple rounds of antibiotics and natural supplements (d-mannose, cranimals, and UTR). I read a recommendation from a holistic website for Azodyl and Paxon to support kidney health so I purchased them because the NSAID prescribed for TCC can be tough on the kidneys. My dog is 12 lbs. and I give him 1 unopened Azodyl capsule 1 hr. before breakfast and 1 hour before dinner in a very small amount of fermented raw goat's milk. The product recommends 3 capsules daily for his weight, but I opted to go with 2 since he's on the cusp of the weight range, and the product is somewhat expensive. I give him 1/2 of a tablet of the Paxon in his breakfast -- again this is less than the recommended dose of 1 tablet daily for his weight. I tested his urine with a test strip after 10 days on these new supplements, and for the first time since January, there was no blood in his urine! This is not what I was targeting with the products, but I will take it! He has great energy and is very lively. I'll also add that I looked at other online retailers to purchase these products from; but I went with VetRX in hopes the package would arrive cold to Florida since the Azodyl is heat sensitive. The shipping was quick, and the packaging was amazing. It arrived very cold with a still solidly frozen ice pack inside despite the brutal Florida heat. Kudos all around! #sweepstakes -

Does azodyl help with cat uti ??
-
According to the manufacturer, Azodyl does not provide any benefit with treatment or prevention of urinary tract infections. Azodyl binds to the nitrogenous waste from the kidneys and disposes of them through feces. This helps support kidney health in pets by reducing toxin build up in the body. Please consult your veterinarian with any additional questions or concerns regarding this medication.

Can I give Azydol probiotics along with proviable forte, DC probiotics? Or is it recommended that you only give as Azydol probiotic for your pet with renal Failure? Usually I give the proviable DC when I give my dog his meal. Also I notice Azodyl gives my dog really stinky farts. Giving him to a day makes him do a lot of stretching of his stomach so I cut back too to one right now but for the first three months so his body can adjust.?

Azodyl is a supplement that helps support kidney health by flushing out toxins in the bowel and blood in dogs. The manufacturer recommends giving 1 capsule daily for dogs weighing <5 lbs, 1 capsule twice daily for dogs 5-10 lbs, and 3 capsules daily (2 in the morning and 1 in the evening) for dogs >10 lbs. Proviable-DC is another probiotic that helps firm stools and reduce diarrhea caused by intestinal upset. Generally, probiotics are well tolerated, however, taking too many probiotics can cause bloating and gas. It is recommended that you speak with your veterinarian about giving both probiotics, they will be able to provide the best recommendation as they have a full history of your dog’s health.

Is it okay if I give my cat one capsule at 1 pm and the next pill at 1 am? As I have to work 12 hours and there's no other feasible time?
-
It would be fine to give one capsule at 1 PM and one capsule at 1 AM. It is best to take Azodyl on an empty stomach and it is recommended that if it is given twice a day it be given in two separate doses. Please contact your veterinarian about any questions or concerns you may have regarding this product and your cat.

I was just hoping you could ease my concerns. Azodyl came overnight, but I didn't refrigerate it until five hours later. It remained in the cooler/package in the hallway. It might've of been 70 degrees outside. Do you know if it is still 100% effective or if it was affected? Thank you?
-
According to the manufacturer Azodyl can remain at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, with no effect on the expiration date. The circumstances that you have described, the product integrity would not be compromised. .
