Helpful and Caring
This medicine was perscribed for my 18 year old fur baby who is in kidney failure and it has been helping him tremendously. My only issue that I have is the size of the pill - this particular manufacturers pill is very small and therefore difficult to split into quarters (1/4) each - I had called around and was told I could always get it from a pharmacy, but at pharmacy prices of about $11.00 for one pill, I thought I would do my best when VetRXDirect was only charging about 18 to 25 cents a pill.

I need this in a liquid form do you provide that service?
-
Unfortunately, at VetRxDirect, we no longer provide the service to compound medications into oral liquid form. Amlodipine besylate is available as an oral tablet formulation through VetRxDirect in 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg strengths. However, these tablets may be crushed and added to food or liquid. Please speak with your pet's veterinarian to determine if this option would suit your pet's needs. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Five pound Puppy ingested 5mg Amlodipine Besylate Tablet..What to do ?????
-
An amlodipine dose of 5 mg is a high dose for a puppy weighing 5 lbs. The most common signs of a dog getting too much of this medication include very low blood pressure and slow heart rate. These symptoms can lead to weakness, fainting, or confusion. Please follow up with your veterinarian regarding any accidental ingestion or ingestion of a higher dose than prescribed for specific instructions.

Can you tell me the brand the 2.5mg tablet would be? Also, what is the size of the pill? Thank you.?
-
Amlodipine Besylate is a human medication that is prescribed extra-label, off label, by veterinarians for the treatment of high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions in animals. Veterinarians may prescribe a human drug because not all types of drugs are manufactured specifically for animals, "vet labeled". Human drugs may also be prescribed as the treatment for a certain disease. Human-labeled generic drugs for extra-label use in pets are sold and shipped generically unless a brand name is specifically requested by your pet's veterinarian. Product page content and images are for representation only in these cases. The manufacturer of generic drugs depends on availability at time of shipment. Replacements are made with the same generic drug, following all pharmacy laws.

My vet prescribed .44mg BID, but I can't find any that low of a mg. IS the pill big enough to cut in half or into quarters??
-
Amlodipine besylate is available as a tablet formulation through VetRxDirect in 2.5mg, 5mg, and 10mg strengths. Splitting the smallest strength, 2.5 mg, into quarters would result in a 0.625mg dose, which is higher than what has been prescribed. Please speak with your pet's veterinarian to determine if this option would suit your pet's needs. Thank you, VetRxDirect

I know this is a year late, but in case it helps others: it's definitely possible, but the difficulty varies by how wide & hard a particular company's pills are. The easiest I've found is 7mm in diameter, and imprinted "93" on one side & "83" on the other; one of the companies that makes it is Teva. (You can check what the diameter of each company's pills on the National Library of Medicine's "Pillbox" website.) Also, from experience, don't rely on the bottle image to identify which manufacturer a vet pharmacy is using — make sure the page states it in text (this one doesn't) or email the pharmacy to ask, and double-check whenever you reorder to be sure things haven't changed.

Is this really sold by the individual tablet? You're really going to charge me $0.23 and send me a single tablet??
-
Many of the tablets and capsules we offer for use in pets are available per pill as prescription quantities vary drastically between disease, medication and pet. We will charge for the amount ordered, usually the quantity your pet's veterinarian has prescribed. Thank you.
