how long should it take to kill the worm (tapeworm)... when should I stop seeing them in the stool??
-
According to the product label re-treatment of your dog may be necessary as determined by laboratory fecal examination and/or if your dog is living where re-infections are likely to occur. Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis and prevention of re-infection. In case of re-infection with tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum), consult your veterinarian for advice on how to remove fleas from the dog and the environment. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding the Virbantel (pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel).

Do I need to have a heart worm check before using this product What worms does it eliminate ?
-
poppyseed, It is most important to know this product is not a treatment or preventative of canine heartworms. Virbantel is an intestinal parasite pet medication for the treatment and control of: - Roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) - Hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, and Uncinaria stenocephala) - Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis) Thank you, VetRxDirect

I bought this for my cats. It hasn't come it yet, but I see now that it says for dogs. Can I still give this to my cats for tapeworms??
-
Virbantel (active ingredients praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate) is used for both cats and dogs to kill tapeworms, hookworms, and roundworms. It can be given with or without food, in one treatment, though the manufacturer recommends a second treatment in 2 to 4 weeks if re-infection is likely. It is also best to treat all pets in an environment to help prevent re-infection. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My vet prescribed virbantel 30mg for my cat (1 pill now and another in 3 weeks). I would like to know if this also works on cats!?
-
Barbara, Virbantel includes the two drugs, pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel. The brand name Virbantel product is marketed by the manufacturer for dogs only, however both of the drugs individually or in combination with other drugs can be used in cats and are effective for deworming treatment. Do I need a prescription from my vet in order to purchase Virbantel from you??
-
Tommy, Because Virbantel is not labeled as a prescription drug, authorization is not needed to purchase Virbantel. But, it is very important to consult your pet's veterinarian for assistance in diagnosing and preventing infections of intestinal worms. For example, to prevent infection with tapeworms, fleas must to be removed from the pet and environment. Thank you, VetRxDirect
