Allermyl has helped calm Rosie's skin
From UndisclosedComments about Virbantel (pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel) 16ozOur veterinarian suggested Allermyl to help calm Rosie's irritated skin, she has dust and storage mite allergies, and her skin becomes inflamed and darkened. It really does help her skin clear, but remember to follow the directions on the bottle, wash twice, and leave soapy foam on for 10 minutes each time.-

Inexpensive worm treatment
From TexasComments about Virbantel (pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel)I needed to deworm all 5 of my dogs without having to incur vet bills. I know what tapeworms look like, so I didn't need a diagnosis, only the treatment. This product got rid of the tapeworms for a reasonable price and quick delivery. I will probably buy this product on a regular basis, because worms tend to come back. -
Good wormer
From Colorado, USAComments about Virbantel (pyrantel pamoate/praziquantel)I have multiple dogs and try to keep them on the same deworming schedule. My vet gave me this for one dog. I was so glad to find that I could get it for the others without bringing them all in for a check. Their coats improved dramatically, weren't dragging themselves, and general energy increased. Great product!

What is the recommended dosage? Is it once, twice or more per event? thanks?
-
The manufacturer's recommended dosage is based on weight of the animal, which we have included below. Virbantel is used as a single treatment to kill and control intestinal worms, and does not prevent new ones. Re-treatment may be necessary if your pet is re-infected with worms, but it should be determined by your veterinarian. The deworming schedule may vary depending on the climate where you live and the activity of your dog. Body Weight 30mg Tablet 114mg Tablet 6-12 lbs. 1 12.1-25 lbs. 2 25.1-50 lbs. 1 50.1-100 lbs. 2 100.1 -150 lbs. 3 150.1-200 lbs. 4

Do I need a prescription for virbac? I have a small kennel. Can I buy a whole bottle vs per pill? If so, what is the cost for the 114mg bottle??
-
Susan, The Virbantel does not require a prescription. It is priced per tablet so you can buy 50 tablets that come in a bottle but it would still be sold per tablet. The 114mg tablets are $8.99 per tablet so for the bottle of 50, it would be roughly $450. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is this product really, really fragrance free? I have severe allergies and cannot tolerate the shampoo currently used by my vet on my kitty. I would like to buy your product to take with me the next time I have my cat groomed.?
-
Danny, The labeling on Allermyl shampoo indicates that it is dye- and fragrance-free. The intended purpose of the shampoo is to help manage allergic skin conditions on dogs and cats, not necessarily airborne allergens; though it may be beneficial in that respect as well, there is no information provided. If you are interested in the most current ingredient information, the manufacturer, Virbac, can be contacted at (800) 338-3659. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do I need to have a heart worm check before using this product What worms does it eliminate ?
-
poppyseed, It is most important to know this product is not a treatment or preventative of canine heartworms. Virbantel is an intestinal parasite pet medication for the treatment and control of: - Roundworms (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina) - Hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, and Uncinaria stenocephala) - Tapeworms (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia pisiformis) Thank you, VetRxDirect

I bought this for my cats. It hasn't come it yet, but I see now that it says for dogs. Can I still give this to my cats for tapeworms??
-
Virbantel (active ingredients praziquantel and pyrantel pamoate) is used for both cats and dogs to kill tapeworms, hookworms, and roundworms. It can be given with or without food, in one treatment, though the manufacturer recommends a second treatment in 2 to 4 weeks if re-infection is likely. It is also best to treat all pets in an environment to help prevent re-infection. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My vet prescribed virbantel 30mg for my cat (1 pill now and another in 3 weeks). I would like to know if this also works on cats!?
-
Barbara, Virbantel includes the two drugs, pyrantel pamoate and praziquantel. The brand name Virbantel product is marketed by the manufacturer for dogs only, however both of the drugs individually or in combination with other drugs can be used in cats and are effective for deworming treatment. could heart guard and verbantel given within a couple of days of each other cause poisoning or severe liver reaction?
-
Barbara, Virbantel and Heartgard Plus are generally safe and would not cause poisoning separately or together. Both products contain pyrantel, which has a very wide margin of safety. Heartgard also contains ivermectin which is very safe. Virbantel also contains praziquantel which is also very safe. It is always a good idea to separate treatments like these by several days or weeks if possible. Any medicine can cause idiosyncratic (rare) reactions. Ask your pet's veterinarian about other questions regarding these medications. Thank you, VetRxDirect
