Great product for dogs with noise induced anxiety!
We have a Lhasa who's terrified of thunder and fireworks. We have tried giving her Melatonin as well as have her wear the Thundershirt but after a while she would get accustomed to it and her anxiety would return. We gave her the amount of Sileo prescribed by her veterinarian and instead of shaking like a leaf like she normally would, she was calm and went to sleep comfortably. We've given this ahead of time when we knew a storm was coming (as well as on NYE) and given it once the storm was already over us. In both cases it worked in keeping her calm and reducing her noise induced anxiety to almost zero. We did not notice any adverse reactions to this product.

Ok for sileo
I have a 13 yr old lab that any of the usual meds have had disappointing results. The fireworks were quieter this year but my neighbor had illegals. It took a second dose to get him yo sleep plus a little extra. With his size that was it.i expected better results

From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal Gel 3mL SyringeThis is the only medication that works fr foireworks and storms. We'e had our anxious Goldendoodle rescue on sooooo many different medications, combinations of medications, behavioral therapy, thundershirt, etc. This is the only thing that helps calm her. -
The best thing that has ever happened to me! .
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal Gel 3mL SyringeMy little baby is so scared of everything that is loud, and with the thunderstorms that we have been having along with the Fourth of July he has not had very much time To be normal. Thank you for being there for him and me. -
This medication worked
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal Gel 3mL SyringeThis medication most certainly did help my dog with the noise anxiety. It has been the only thing that I found yet that has helped her for the fireworks. She could hear them but didn't seem to bother her. If she didn't have the medicine before she would be hiding and jumping, shaking. This kept her calm. I would recommend it to anybody. -
Sileo helps my dog manage stress during storms.
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelMy dog gets very nervous during wind or snow storms when rain and sleet are pelting the house, or ice is sliding off the roof. Sileo helps her deal with these stressful times. -

STORMS BEWARE, SILEO IS HERE TO SAVE THE DAY AND THE STRESS
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelABSOLUTELY THE BEST PRODUCT ON THE MARKET THAT OUR VET SUGGESTED FOR BOTH MY ENGLISH BULLDOG LUNCHBOX AND BOXER GIRL POPSICLE WHO ARE BOTH EXTREMELY STORM REACTIVE. EASY TO APPLY, WORKS WELL WITHIN 30 MINS AND LASTS THROUGH THE STORM OR ALSO MAY GIVE ANOTHER APPLICATION AFTER 4 HOURS. SOME OF MY PET CLIENTS HAVE ALSO USED IT WITH GOOD RESULTS. I SHOP AROUND FOR THE BEST PRICES AS THIS MEDICATION OBTAINED THROUGH OUR VET WAS ALMOST 3X THE COST VS ONLINE PURCHASE. DOGS ARE RESTED, LESS STRESSED, CONTENT AS WE RIDE OUT THE STORM FOR THIS MOST RECENT PURCHASE OF 6 SYRINGES VET RX DIRECT KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK ON PRICING -
Second year using this will be using again next year.
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal GelWorks really well and super quickly for fireworks. -
I love this product, so easy on my pups!
From UndisclosedComments about Sileo (dexmedetomidine) Oromucosal Gelprescribed for noise aversion, I love this product. It is easy to administer, works fast usually within ten minutes. Working this fast I don't have to watch my furbabies who are terrified of thunder and fireworks either be 'drugged' all day based on a weather report or have to wait 30 to 40 minutes for the pill or capsule to take effect. If the thunderstorm has not moved out I can administer additional and I don't have to watch my sedated dog the rest of the day if the thunderstorm does move out. It wears off rapidly compared to a pill or capsule. You administer it between gums and cheek so they don't have to swallow it. The only disadvantage is the entire tub should be used within two weeks of opening. I would love to have it come in a smaller amount, but I have to pups so I only order around spring for storms and the holidays for which fireworks are used. It usually takes care of the bulk of the meds. GREAT product!

Q & A

It says Sileo is to help with noise. My vet mentioned Sileo to me to help with my dog's anxiety when he needs to be in the car. His anxiety is caused by being in the car (even if the car isn't running), not noise from the car ride/traffic. Is Sileo likely to help for this or was I guided to a medicine that won't help??
-
Sileo is FDA approved for the treatment of noise aversion in dogs. Under the direction and guidance of a veterinarian, Sileo is also used extra-label or off-label to reduce fear and anxiety during veterinary examinations. It contains the active ingredient Dexmedetomidine that works as a sedative and pain reliever. If your dog is still showing signs of anxiety 2-3 hours after administration then please speak with your veterinarian regarding additional doses and/or an alternative product.

Why does the medication need to be thrown away 4 weeks after opening the syringe??
-
The manufacturer of Sileo for Dogs lists the beyond-use date as 4 weeks after the syringe is opened due to stability and sterility concerns for the medication after that time. Beyond 4 weeks, the manufacturer cannot guarantee the medication will be effective or uncontaminated by bacteria and other microbes.

I have a dog who takes phenobarbital for seizures, I need an additional medication I can give him for fireworks/storms. Can this be taken with the phenobarbital??
-
According to Plumb’s Veterinary Drugs, Sileo should be used with caution in animals that have or are prone to developing seizures. The active ingredient in Sileo, Dexmedetomidine, was shown to lower the seizure threshold in animal studies. In combination, a dose reduction of both Phenobarbital and Sileo may be needed due to the potential additive effects of these medications combined. Please contact your Veterinarian to see if Sileo is safe for your dog's specific situation.

I used the correct dosage per the chart for my dog (4 dots) and administered it correctly but I saw no change in her during an event with very loud noises. Her weight is a little more than in the middle range for 4 dots and my question is, will giving her 5 dots help her better but still not make her drowsy? This is an event she participates in.?
-
Would like more details on how is it administered. Thank you.?

I have a 40lb dog, which would be 4 doses/syringe. If I only use 1 dose, how long can I store the other 3 doses and how would they be stored??
-
Sileo syringes are recommended to be used within two weeks of opening the syringe. Following the use of the first dose, the syringe can be stored in its original packaging at a controlled room temperature of 68-77 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as temperatures through 59-86 degrees Fahrenheit for a limited amount of time.

I purchased two tubes of silo gel for my dog the insert says it's supposed to be a clear or white Crystaline in color and both tubes or green color gel is this product so good thank you?
-
The products you received are the correct color. Sileo Gel is is a teal-green translucent color. The white, crystalline substance referred to in the insert is the active ingredient, dexmedetomidine, which is dissolved in the green-teal gel for administration.
