Q & A

Will it work with 8mm needle length? I bought one and the needle does not come out of the injector even at the shortest length.?
-
Most 8mm needles should fit the petfine autoinjector. However, the length of needle that you should use varies depending on whether you are using this product on a dog or on a cat. If you are using your auto injector on a dog, a longer needle (12mm) may be more appropriate. Consult your dog's or cat's veterinarian for recommendations specific to your cat or dog.

I have the Petrine autoinjector for my dog. However, I use short syringes with an 8mm length. When I test for depth of injection, when I screw the short adapter down as low as it will go, only 4mm of the needle prefers. Is this sufficient to provide a subcutaneous injection to a small dog? I assume there is no shorter adapter for the auto injector.?

Research studies on using auto injectors for insulin delivery in dogs have been done with the 0.5ml 29g/12mm needles. It is recommended that you use the 12mm needle or consult your dog's veterinarian for additional recommendations.
