I will buy this product continually from VetRx.
From Grass Valley, CAComments about Leukeran (chlorambucil)My cat is alive because VetRx has fair prices. Retail pharmacies are crazy expensive. My old vet office price was $80.00 more so I save a lot of money ordering on line. The Leukeran arrives in a refrigerated cooler. My vet prescribed this 2mg chemo med on Sunday and Wednesday and 2.5mg Prednisolone tabs the other days. He takes 1/2 Pepcid everyday. He is sleepy sometimes the day after chemo but hours later he is doing great, happy and playful. Warehouse and retail Rx stores will rob you blind. -
My RYAN has been on Leukaran and doing fabulous😻

This drug is very expensive but it's the lowest price around
From San Clemente, CAComments about Leukeran (chlorambucil)This drug is very expensive but it's the lowest price for this drug that I have found anywhere with the exception to compounding but my veterinarian isn't sold on this drug in a compound and hasn't found it to work as well as the actual drug. -

Helpful alternative to steroids
From Michigan, USAComments about Leukeran (chlorambucil)Our cat Buster was looking a little skinny, so we took him for a vet visit. We're glad we did because 24 hours, and several medical tests later, left us knowing that our 5 1/2 year old cat was severely anemic and had an enlarged heart. Because of the heart condition, Buster couldn't take a steroid to increase his red blood cell count and was prescribed Luekeran instead. Over the course of the first month on this drug, the price went up and the local animal hospital stopped carrying it - and the dozen other local pharmacies we called were VERY expensive. We're so glad we found this website! It shipped overnight and was at a cheaper price than we found anywhere else. The pill itself is small, so we've had success putting it in his wet food. He eats it and we don't have the struggle of pilling him. Buster's blood levels are on the way up and we are happy the Luekeran is helping him. -
Newton is alive 4 years after a lymphoma diagnosis
From Burbank, CA, USAComments about Leukeran (chlorambucil)Newton (my cat) was diagnosed with lymphoma in his small intestines in March of 2011. With the help of Leukeran and several different steroids he has survived this cancer for four years when he was only given a life expectancy of 18 month. He has a voracious appetite, is full of energy and appears to still have a great quality of life. Leukeran is very expensive and the price has doubled since he began chemo, but it's been worth the investment. If you can find a compounding pharmacy in your area it is possible to reduce the cost of the medication by almost 50%. I used VetRx because my compounding pharmacy had a difficult time finding Leukeran. Vet Rx's price for Leukeran is comparable to other online pharmacies. They correctly packed the medication on ice and delivered it two days after I ordered. They did a great job filling my prescription when my compounding pharmacy couldn't. I would recommend them to anyone for very professional, speedy service and providing the real medication at a competitive price. -
Saving my cat's life!
From Albuquerque, NM, USAComments about Leukeran (chlorambucil)I have been purchasing Lukeran through VetRXDirect for over a year now because the cost is much less expensive than purchasing it through my veterinarian. My 16 year old girl was given 1 to 2 years to live in July 2012; she is still with me thanks to this drug.

Q & A

What are the dimensions of the 2 mg Leukeran? Can the pill be cut in half? We will have to pill our kitty.?
-
Can you tell me how it would be typically dosed for a 85 lb dog with low grade lymphoma. It is one of the recommendations from the Oncologist, but he does not list dose and I am trying to get some idea(general) of cost.?
-
Because this is a prescription medication, the dosage should be determined by your veterinarian.

How effective is the medication for treating protein losing enteropathy in dogs? It is our last hope for saving my little one's life. The cost is prohibitive but I'll figure it out if it will help and not just make him miserable during what time he has left. Thank you?
-
According to various studies, chlorambucil (leukeran) and prednisolone have been used together in the treatment of protein-losing enteropathy to increase the advantage of survival, albumin, weight gain in dogs. Use of this medication should be monitored by your veterinarian.

Our vet has prescribed a 0.4 mg dose of chlorambucil every other day for our cat, and typically we get it compounded at a local pharmacy. However, they are out of the powder and are not likely to get any in soon. Does this product come in a lower dose? Or can I receive it compounded into the appropriate dosage? Thanks, Susan?
-
At this time, chlorambucil is only dispensed as the commercially-available Leukeran 2 mg tablet. Unfortunately we do not compound chlorambucil in our pharmacy. We recommend contacting your veterinarian to determine where you can obtain a compounded supply for your pet. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Have you heard of this being used to treat a dog with osteosarcoma??
-
Leukeran is the brand name product for chlorambucil which is a medication used in certain cancers, including lymphocytic leukemia, multiple myeloma, polycythemia vera, macroglobulinemia, and ovarian adenocarcinoma, and other conditions in pets. The use of leukeran for osteosarcoma has been seen in clinical practice. I've been told that when our cat pees and poops in the litter box that said pees and poops have to be isolated for 48 hours. I heard this from a pharmacist; is this information accurate? We have a multi-cat household, so this would be impossible.?
-
I had asked this question of the emergency vet that prescribed it as well as my regular veterinarian and both said it WAS NOT necessary to separate the cats or litter boxes. They said that after reaching the blood stream by the time it reaches the feces and urine it is mostly inactive ingredients and the risk is exceptionally low. They did recommend if you have a cat that likes to groom other cats to try to keep them from doing that. I don't have that as an issue.

Leukeran and its metabolites can be hazardous to other animals and people that come in contact with them. It is recommended that all bodily wastes be handled wearing disposable gloves and that the waste be placed in a sealable plastic bag before putting in the trash. These precautions should be taken on the day(s) your cat receives the drug and then for approximately 24 hours after ceasing the use of Leukeran. If there are multiple cats using the same litter box, the urine and feces could be potentially harmful to other cats if they come into direct contact with it. Though the risk is low (as cat’s tend to avoid the urine and feces of other cats), it’s important to remove the urine or feces as soon as possible to prevent exposure to the other cats. We would also recommend to contact your veterinarian for further suggestions regarding this matter. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Why has the cost of Leukeran gone up soooo much??
-
We do try to keep our prices as low as possible but unfortunately, the acquisition costs continue to rise for us to obtain the medication so we in turn have to raise our prices as well. Thank you, VetRxDirect

how long will it take to process and ship the leukeran??
-
The leukeran is a refrigerated product so it does get shipped via next day shipping but it does require a prescription so we would have to get that from the veterinarian before we are able to ship it. It usually only takes a couple of days but it does depend on how long it takes the veterinarian to respond to our fax. Thank you, VetRxDirect
