The Best
From UndisclosedComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionBeen using this LRS for both my 19 and 17 year old girls who have CKD. The best one out there, no complaints. -
Perfect for what I needed.
From UndisclosedComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionI loved how this bag is marked at the half mark. Makes it easier to measure. I had difficulty putting the IV line into the bag I wasn't sure if the insert was to small. -
Saved my cat.
From UndisclosedComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionMy cat was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease more than three years ago and was given no more than twelve months max to live. Thanks to a daily dosage of this solution under the skin, a low protein diet and a blood pressure he still going strong! -
I will continue to repurchase this product...
From UndisclosedComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionUnfortunately my 12 year old Pomeranian has developed kidney disease. My daughter and I have been giving her fluids every night, since our girl was able to come home from hospital care at the end of January of this year. This fluid has been keeping our precious Chloe going. She's come a long way after her battle with an auto immune disease that almost took her from us in December 2017.-

You can do it, if I can!
From UndisclosedComments about Lactated Ringers SolutionI was squeamish about doing this myself, at home, but our two eldest will be with us a few extra years by giving fluids a couple of times a week. For those of us who can't take our cats to the vet twice a week, and also a great money saver...

My vet has recommended that I give my cat 100 cc of lactated ringers solution 3 times a week. Do you require a prescription??
-
Lactated Ringers Solution does require a prescription from a veterinarian.

My vet tells she has attended a conference where they discussed giving Lactated Ringer's orally. Apparently the oral administration to a cat in CRF/CKD was comparable to sub-q fluid therapy. I would like to know whether you could refer me to some solid research on this, if any. Or for that matter of any information in this respect you might be aware of. Thanks.?

Please consult your veterinarian for further research information regarding Lactated Ringer’s use.

Are the SubQ administration sets reusable? Also wondering about earlier answer that stated the 1000ml bag of Ringer's should be discarded after a single use. In my case, I use 150 ml 2-3 times weekly. As far as I've seen, the bags from the Vet are all 1000 ml and I had not heard before it was necessary to discard after a single use. Did I misunderstand the previous question and reply? Thank you, Tim?

In general, a venoset is a disposable, sterile, gravity IV set used for subcutaneous (sub-Q) administration, or intravenous (IV) administration of fluids or medications to pets. Venoset tubing is subject to bacterial growth the longer it is in use. For this reason, strict attention should be provided to the tubing for any signs of cloudiness, film formation, or particulates which may suggest an infected line. Infected lines could lead to infections in your pet that could be life threatening, so also monitor for injection site tenderness or redness. There is debate in the veterinary profession about how long a bag of lactated ringers can be used after first puncture. We posted previously that it is recommended to discard any remaining Lactated Ringers solution after one use because the product may no longer be sterile. When you receive a bag of Lactated Ringers, the contents are completely sealed, sterile, and contain no preservatives or antimicrobials. When the bag is punctured, the contents may no longer be sterile or may become contaminated through reuse. Consult your veterinarian regarding the appropriate duration of use for these products. They have more information about your situation and will be able to tailor their recommendations to your specific case.

My Vet told me the bag is good for reuse for two weeks after initial puncture with the set. I came here to see if this site agreed. I think they have to say single use for medical/legal reasons. Currently I'm using 100-150ml twice weekly. Had Bitsyross at holistic Vet for acupuncture and 100 ml given there. So I'm left with 800 ml to discard!

Also is your product manufactured and produced solely in the USA , how do you maintain quality control of the products you sell ? Also is there any differece in your product sold as vet only and lactated ringers used in hospitals everywhere ? Thanks for your direct and prompt response?

Under the direction of a veterinarian, Lactated Ringers Solution is a product that can be used in dogs in addition to cats. VetRxDirect is a professional veterinary pharmacy with licenses and accreditations that allow us to legally sell a variety of pet medication and supplements. Lactated Ringers Solution is available as a veterinary labeled and a human labeled product. The human labeled product can be used in an extra label manner (not consistent with manufacturer instructions) for dogs and cats as recommended by the veterinarian. The manufacturer for generic Lactated Ringers Solution may vary with the current inventory. For questions in regards to current manufacturer please contact our customer service.

How do I know how much fluids I have given with the Aspen bags of lactated ringers??
-
Please refer to the Lactated Ringers Solution product. Ideally, markings on the left and right side estimates how many milliliters (mL) have been used, though it is not possible to determine exact doses at home. Please contact your veterinarian if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Hello. I am specifically looking for the B.Braun brand of lactated ringer's solution in 1000ml bags. If I place an order with you, can I be sure I will receive the B.Braun bags and not a generic? This happened to me on another site so I want to be sure. Thank you!?

How many 500ml LRS bags are there to a case? And is it possible to order a case??
-
Lactated ringers solution bags must be labeled and sold individually in order to comply with pharmaceutical sales laws; therefore, cases of LRS may not be purchased.
Verified Answer -
That must be a new law, because I have ordered cases of these other places.

We've been giving our cat sub-q fluids for a year and a half now - buying our lactated ringers through VetRx. Recently, the brand VetRx has been sending has changed. it is now Vetivex. The measurement markers on the side of the Vetivex seem WAY off. The 900 mL marker is at around 1/3 of the way up the bag. It seems way more than 100 mL of fluid. All the other brands we used had the 900 mL mark much lower on the bag. We're not sure how to properly measure the fluids using these bags anymore. Please help! I've included a link to a picture of a similar bad (not lactated ringers) from Vetivex. You can see on the side just how high up the 900mL mark is on the bag. http://www.dechra-us.com/admin/public/getimage.ashx?image=/Files/Images/ecom/products/us/Vetivex_3.jpg&altFmImage_path=/Files/Images/ecom/dummy-product.png&crop=0&Width=460?

It has come to our attention that Vetivex has recently had a manufacturing error resulting in overfilled bags and incorrect fluid level measurements. If you have received a Vetivex bag of 1000ml Lactated Ringers solution fitting this description, please contact us at 1-866-761-6578 and we will get you a replacement.

I also don't trust those lines on the bag. For what it's worth, We use a digital "fish scale" I got cheap. We hang the bag on the scale and zero it when we start ... watch until the weight gets to -100g. This shows that 100ml of fluid have been given.

If my cat needs 200 cc via 18 guage syringe daily, can I reuse the fluid in the 1000 cc bag, or should I order a larger quantity of the 250 cc bags??
-
It is recommended to use 250cc bags daily. As this product contains no antimicrobial agents, reusing bags can increase risk of infections with extended reuse. Therefore it is recommended that the unused portion of 1000 cc bags should be discarded. It is best to follow the directions of your cat's veterinarian and consult them for additional recommendations.
Verified Answer -
I give my cat 100 ml every couple days and I use a 1000 ml bag over the course of time. This is exactly how my vet sells the fluid bags as well. I use new needles every time (never reuse them). And make sure you don't touch the open ports when changing the needle . Use a fresh venoset line at least every other bag change.
