It WORKS!!
i have two epileptic beagles and my vet added potassium bromide in addition to the phenobarbital that they take....and the seizure episodes diminished enormously!!! vetrxdirect is wonderful to work with, they send emails letting me know what's going on, and i love how, if i need to call, i actually get to talk to a real person....in fact, when i called this morning, i talked to the same girl who had sent me the email, and she knew who i was!!!!! LOVE them!!!!! great service!!! plus, they are also the only online pharmacy that carries this drug.....

Excellent friendly service
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral Solution CA1 250mg, 180 Chewable TabletsExcellent customer service. My previous pharmacy didn't notify me that my Frenchie's seizure medication was in back order with no fill date available. In a desperate search to find his vital medication. I found vet rx direct. I left a message requesting that they confirm the availability of the medication, which they promptly did and sent my Frenchie's medication ASAP. I was so relieved and so pleased with their customer service. I was in the midst of preparing for an out town trip and it was imperative that Frenchie have his medication. I can't thank them enough for the fast superb service. In addition they kept me informed as when the medication shipped and was delivered. They will now be my pharmacy of choice! Along with the order Frenchie received a treat that he totally loved!-

Doesn't work as a chewable for us
From UndisclosedComments about K-BroVet (Potassium Bromide) Oral Solution CA1 500mg, 60 Chewable TabletsThis is part of Watson's regular epilepsy treatment regime. VetRx got it to us quickly when other providers were out of stock. It's technically a chewable, but I have to give it to Watson like other meds, wrapped in meat or cheese... He eats around it even if I put it in his kibble. :) -

Q & A

Can I apply liquid bromide to the bags of food I prepare for my dog when he is boarded while I am traveling? I prepare homemade food that is refrigerated, so I am assuming this would be okay??
-
Combining liquid bromide to bags of dog food is not recommended for a variety of reasons: One is that the manufacturer states to store the K-BroVet in a sealed container at room temperature (not in the refrigerator). After adding K-BroVet to the food, the chemistry of the K-BroVet (and possibly even the food) will be compromised and will not be stored per manufacturer's recommendation. The second is that there is no way to determine the shelf-life and the potency of the K-BroVet after it has been added to your dog's food.

does the oral solution have to be used within a certain time? my dog only needs .38ml for her weight at this time and i wanna buy the 2 oz bottle. that would last about 5 months i think. is that ok? or will it expire before that??
-
5 months should be fine. We currently do not have a 2oz bottle that I can look for the expiration, but the 10oz bottles we have has an expiration date of 11/2016. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My dog doesn't like the taste of the liquid. Can it be mixed with Greek yogurt and frozen more like a treat??
-
The manufacturer of K-BroVet recommends storing their product at room temperature in a tightly sealed container. Refrigeration or freezing of the liquid solution can cause crystallization of the product, leading to potentially inaccurate dosing. It is therefore not recommended to freeze this product. There is an alternate dosage form of K-BroVet available, a liver flavored chewable tablet, that could be viable option for your situation. VetRxDirect also offers several compounded options of potassium bromide. Please contact your veterinarian to determine what they believe is the best course of therapy for your dog. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Is 250 mg of tablet potassium bromide equal to 1 ml liquid form??
-
Holly, The commerically available KBrovet oral solution is 250mg/mL, so one 250mg tablet would be equal in strength to 1 milliliter of the oral suspension. We also compound potassium bromide in a variety of capsule and liquid strengths, to assist in easier dosing. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Jin76, K-BroVet is an anticonvulsant used in the treatment of seizures in dogs. Potassium bromide can be added to phenobarbital therapy and may help your dog based on what type of seizure the pet is having. Dosage of potassium bromide will be based on achieving a blood level of the drug that will control symptoms and minimize side effects. For guidance on usage and dosing of K-Brovet please contact your veterinarian. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My dog is 32 pounds and is taking 500 mg twice a day with phenabarb twice a day. Is that the right dose? The seizures are controlled it has been months since he had one, Could his dose be lowered??
-
Lesa, Dosing will vary depending on the type and severity of seizures that your dog has. Once the seizure frequency has been reduced and under control for a period of time your veterinarian may recommend lowering the dose to reduce the risk of any adverse effects from these medications. We recommend contacting your veterinarian to determine whether or not it is appropriate to lower your dog’s anti-seizure medication dose at this time. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Do you have these in 100 mg ??
-
Fred, PRN, the manufacturer for K-BroVet, does not produce the potassium bromide in any strengths other than those listed on the website - 250mg, 500mg, and the liquid in a concentration of 250mg/mL. We do compound potassium bromide in a variety of other strengths, including 100mg capsules. These can be found doing a search for potassium bromide on our website; there will be compounded suspensions and capsules. Thank you, VetRxDirect

My boxer requires 500 mg tablets X2 once a day. If I change to the liquid, what would the dose be for 1000mg? My vet says the tablets could be upsetting her stomach.?
-
Gilbert, Potassium bromide liquid is available commercially as K-BroVet in a 250mg/mL concentration. If your dog needs 1000mg, it would require 4mL of liquid to equal this dose. Each bottle has 300ml of volume and would last about 75 days at this dosage. Ask your veterinarian to see if dividing the doses throughout the day and giving with food would be options to minimize stomach upset. Thank you, VetRxDirect
