Excellent product. Many uses for your fur baby.
My husband and I have 5 rescues, our oldest was recently diagnosed with renal failure and our youngest has a very sensitive stomach. We mix a little into soft food on a regular basis. It smells just like chicken bouillon and I'm guessing that is what entices my oldest to eat (for her we use it to get her to eat more do she gets enough calories). It's also solved a lot of the sensitive stomach issues for our youngest. We don't use a whole packet per day, just a little sprinkle in with some soft food or on top of some very low sodium tuna (Starkist brand - about 2 tablespoons). Our vet was kind enough to let us sample it at first, now we buy it by the box.

Didn't do much for my cat
My kitten of 6 month has been having diarrhea ever since I got him, my vet suggests that the food he was on was too rich and he has a very sensitive tummy. So we tried switching his food to a vet recommended special diet and added fortiflora to his food everyday. He didn't seem to improve much, his diarrhea was still runny its been 2 weeks. The first thing in the ingredients is animal digest, I understand it's probably there to promote eating, but I'm not sure if that's helping with my kitten who's suppose to be on a very strict diet. One thing that baffled me was that this only had one strain of bacteria, and there was no guaranteed analysis of how much bacteria culture is in each pouch. I'm not giving this product a negative review solely because it didn't help my cat, there might be other underlying problems, but I'm just very disappointed that a product suggested by a vet was this low of quality. Now I won't know if probiotics is not helping because my cat has some other health problem or if it's because there's not enough bacteria culture in fortiflora (since I have no idea how much there is) and not enough variety.

I would definitely buy & recommend this product!
From UndisclosedComments about FortiFlora Probiotic for CatsI can't say enough about the Purina Pro Plan veterinary Calming Care. It's very easy to use, you sprinkle one packet on top of your dogs food and that's all there is to it. To see the effect, in my experience and using it on my own dog it took about a week. Please note, every dog is different so that timeframe may not apply to your pet. She was having some issues of being very nervous in new surroundings,. From what my veterinarian had told me when a dog gets nervous or anxious it affects the gut. The Calming Care is a probiotic, which helps settle the uneasiness in the belly. She compared it to when people have to stand up in front of a room of strangers and give a speech, they get that queasy feeling in the belly, the probiotics settle all that down. I am so happy that Vetrxdirect carries this product! -

Tear stains are gone!
From Roanoke, TXComments about FortiFlora Probiotic for CatsI ordered Fortiflora (canine) for my 3 year old male English Bulldog with ulcerative colitis. He has been on Fortiflora since he was diagnosed over a year ago. While I was away from home, our pet sitter gave Fortiflora daily to our 2 year old white female English Bulldog also. We had tried several products for tear staining with no real good outcomes. Medicated wipes seemed to help a little but nothing had cleared up her rust stained wrinkles or stopped her excessive tearing. Six consecutive days of Fortiflora were enough to see big improvement when we returned home and now, two weeks later, she has just a faint pink tint to her wrinkles and no tearing. -
Great Stuff!
From NCComments about FortiFlora Probiotic for CatsWe have 9 cats and most of our cats won't eat their food without probiotics on it. We bought it originally for our cat who has chronic URI's and is on antibiotics all the time. Probiotics help to provide the good bacteria in her gut that the antibiotics can kill off and keep her stomach and intestines healthy while at the same time trying to keep her upper respiratory healthy too. Once my other cats got a taste of the probiotics they wanted to have it on their moist meal too! -
I will always use this product for my dogs.

Can I give this to a litter of 5 week old puppies that have diarrhea. They have been diagnosed with round worms. They have been de wormed. But still have diarrhea. If so how much per 5 pound pup?
-
The manufacturer does not provide any specific instructions for using this product in young puppies with low body weights. In general, probiotics have been used successfully to treat diarrhea. However, product selection, dosing, and directions can differ. It is recommended that you consult with your veterinarian before using a probiotic product for your puppies.

Is Hydra Care safe for a cat with kidney disease? Specifically, I wonder about the potassium content. Also, Should Hydra Care be fed separately from food? Does feeding it in food or alongside food change its composition enough to affect the hydrating ability (osmolarity)??
-
Purina Hydra Care is a nutrient-enriched water supplement that promotes healthy hydration in cats. According to the manufacturer, Hydra Care is recommended as a supplement for any cats who would benefit from additional water intake. Hydra Care should be offered separately, in a third bowl alongside your cat’s food and drinking water. 1 packet of Hydra Care contains 32.56 mg of Potassium. Is there any problem with my warming food from refrigerator that has Calming Care in it? I don't make it hot. I just make it lukewarm.?
-
According to the manufacturer, warming the Calming Care some is okay. It is active up to a certain temperature. However, it is better to warm the food and then sprinkle the Calming Care on. The manufacturer does not recommend a microwave because the heat cannot be controlled as well.

Hello, I have been reading up on giving cats with suppressed immune systems probiotics and most say you should not. It also says the same with humans. My vet told me to give it, but I think her immune system is compromised due to long term use of prednisolone (due to intestinal cancer) since she now has what seems to be a cold. I think I am probably making matters worse. What is your opinion? Now I have no idea what to give her for diarrhea. Thank you.?
-
VetRxDirect does not offer opinions or recommendations for over-the-counter products. Specific information about a drug or supplement can be addressed, but the recommendation to use or not use a product needs to be directed to your veterinarian, as they have the most in-depth knowledge on the health history of your pet.

-
According to the manufacturer, you can give your pet both the Fortiflora probiotic supplement for dogs and the Calming Care calming probiotic for dogs. They recommend not giving both probiotics at the same feeding. Please consult your veterinarian regarding any further questions or concerns regarding this medication in your dog.
