I will continue to buy this product.
My dog injured her legs and hips some time ago. She is a big dog, about 143 pounds.Started using Cosequin DS two months ago with an initial dosage of 4 tablets a day for 6 weeks now on 3 tablets per day. Her condition has significantly improved. Hard to tell if it is because of the reduced activity or the Cosequin. Probably a little bit of both. I question the pain relief value of MSM, doesn't seem to have much effect. I will coninue to give her Cosequin for the rest of her life. For pain, we are looking to our vet for a carprofen. If your dog has damaged hips or knees this product will not fix it but it can help ease their symptoms.

From UndisclosedComments about Cosequin Sprinkle Capsules for Small Animals 120 Soft ChewsSophie loves her Cosequin Soft Chews. She can be quite finicky when it comes to food, treats and especially disguised medications. She is now 7 years old and our vet recommended Cosequin as a preventative. So far she's doing well with no signs of arthritis. The Soft Chews are especially easy to administer as I just toss one chew in her food dish daily.-

Q & A

if the dog taking the cosequin had received more then it should in 1 day what would happen??
-
Cosequin Maximum Strength is a joint supplement for dogs that contains glucosamine, chondroitin, and methylsulfonylmethane, which are all naturally occurring. The recommended doses range from ½ tablet every other day to 2 tablets daily depending on the weight of your dog. If your dog took more than the recommended daily dose for their weight class, monitor for signs such as nausea, vomiting, and lethargy. It is recommended to speak with your veterinarian to determine if further follow up is necessary.

My dog passed away a week after starting these. I know there had to be underlying health problems, but did these speed up the death of my 8 year old dog ??
-
We are sorry to hear of your dog’s passing. Cosequin Maximum Strength Joint Support is a commonly recommended supplement that is labeled for use without a prescription. Speak with your veterinarian regarding your concerns as they would have access to the full health history for your pet

I have two large breed dogs (3 year old English Mastiff 210lbs and 4 year old Boerboel Mastiff 125lbs - back legs have knee deformities) The vet suggested Cosequin for both of our babies. What dose would I give these large breed dogs??
-
The manufacturer has specific recommendations including a loading dose period (4-6 weeks) and then maintenance doses. Their recommendations are listed below and are a general guide for administering the supplement to your dog, but your dog's veterinarian should make the ultimate decision on dosing. Loading Dose: 60+ lbs 3 chewables once daily Maintenance Dose: 60+ lbs 1-2 chewables once daily

Cosequin Minis soft chews contain Per Chew Glucosamine Hydrochloride 260mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 130mg Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 175mg Cosequin DS Plus Soft Chews contain Glucosamine Hydrochloride 600mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 300mg Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 400mg Dasuquin soft chews for small and medium dogs contain Glucosamine Hydrochloride 600mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 250mg Avocado/Soybean Unsaponifiables Powder 45mg Dasuquin soft chews for Large dogs contain Glucosamine Hydrochloride 900mg Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate 350mg Avocado/Soybean Unsaponifiables (ASU) Powder 90mg ASU powder contains a mixture of avocado and soybean oil. MSM is a major component of connective tissues such as cartilage, tendons and ligaments. Both of these are claimed to improve joint health. Each soft chew also contains its own inactive ingredients which may be a concern in a pet with allergies. The dosing of these chews is weight based. Please note that the initial and the maintenance dose are different. Please inform your veterinarian when your pet stops, starts or changes medication. Thank you, VetRxDirect
