Each drop of Clindamycin Hydrochloride contains the powerful antibiotic clindamycin, which is effective against a range of susceptible bacteria that cause infections in dogs and cats. Veterinarians prescribe Clindamycin Hydrochloride drops to treat serious skin and soft tissue infections, as well as dental infections and inflammation of the bone marrow and tissue adjacent to the bone. This medication is also recommended to treat some infections caused by protozoa including toxoplasmosis. The liquid preparation can be dosed directly or added to food. We were told to give the cat Clindamycin Hydrochloride oral drops through the nose. Nothing I have read says this is a way to administer the product. Is it ok to put drops in each nostril??

My cat needs 150 mg/mL and I'm looking for a decent tasting liquid of Clindamycin. Do you offer this product in higher strenghts? If so how strong do you offer it and at what strength does the taste become horribly pungent, as Clindamycin naturally is.?

How long is it safe to keep giving this medicine? Originally it was prescribed for 10 days, condition improved but only slightly. We are doing second round now. Should I keep giving same dosage but for how long, till clears off? I read rewiews, some cat owners see improvement of dental condition if they give for 1 month, and it clears off for several months, and all over again in several months .?

Is 1ml of 50mg/1ml once per day for two weeks too high of a concentration for my a 8 lb cat since I'm only seeing 25mg/ml??

According to the package insert, cat should get 5.0 - 15.0 mg/lb body weight dose once every 24 hours depending on the severity of the condition. If your cat is 8 Ib, the dose range should be between 40mg-120mg/day, which is about 1.6ml-4.8ml of this 25mg/ml product. If the cat does not eat the wet food with Clinisol liquid put on it, due to the alcohol smell, will the medicine evaporate? Just wondering...thanks?

Ellen, The manufacturer does not provide specifics on how the medication should be administered. If you mix the medicine with the cat’s food it’s preferred to only use a small amount of food to make sure the cat consumes the entire dose of medicine. The alcohol present in the medication may evaporate over a period of time but the drug will remain on the food. Follow the directions given by your veterinarian when giving this medicine.
