Chondro-Flex Sprinkle Capsules for cats is a tuna-flavored nutritional supplement that contains several ingredients that can be used as an adjunctive treatment for osteoarthritis and other joint conditions in cats. Outcomes are generally seen within two to six weeks of treatment. Because supplements are not regulated by the FDA, products between brands can be very different. One capsule of Chondro-Flex for Cats contains the following ingredients:

• Glucosamine HCl 125mg

• Sodium Chondroitin sulfate 100mg

• MSM 50mg

• Ascorbate 8mg

• Manganese 1mg

Products containing glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate appear to be well tolerated but may cause loosening of stools and excess flatulence.

Generally, these products are given at a loading dose for the first 8 weeks and a lower dose thereafter. Initial administration for cats under 10 lbs. should be given by sprinkling the contents of one capsule on a meal once a day. For cats over 10 lbs., 2 capsules should be sprinkled on a meal once a day. After the first 8 weeks, dosing should change from once a day to once every other day.
