Excellent product. Many uses for your fur baby.
My husband and I have 5 rescues, our oldest was recently diagnosed with renal failure and our youngest has a very sensitive stomach. We mix a little into soft food on a regular basis. It smells just like chicken bouillon and I'm guessing that is what entices my oldest to eat (for her we use it to get her to eat more do she gets enough calories). It's also solved a lot of the sensitive stomach issues for our youngest. We don't use a whole packet per day, just a little sprinkle in with some soft food or on top of some very low sodium tuna (Starkist brand - about 2 tablespoons). Our vet was kind enough to let us sample it at first, now we buy it by the box.

Didn't do much for my cat
My kitten of 6 month has been having diarrhea ever since I got him, my vet suggests that the food he was on was too rich and he has a very sensitive tummy. So we tried switching his food to a vet recommended special diet and added fortiflora to his food everyday. He didn't seem to improve much, his diarrhea was still runny its been 2 weeks. The first thing in the ingredients is animal digest, I understand it's probably there to promote eating, but I'm not sure if that's helping with my kitten who's suppose to be on a very strict diet. One thing that baffled me was that this only had one strain of bacteria, and there was no guaranteed analysis of how much bacteria culture is in each pouch. I'm not giving this product a negative review solely because it didn't help my cat, there might be other underlying problems, but I'm just very disappointed that a product suggested by a vet was this low of quality. Now I won't know if probiotics is not helping because my cat has some other health problem or if it's because there's not enough bacteria culture in fortiflora (since I have no idea how much there is) and not enough variety.

Great Product for My Dog's Gut Health
From Chicago IllinoisComments about Calming CareMy dog has a delicate gut. He is allergic to chicken. He always suffered from stomach aches. He would lean forward like a vulture and pace around. My vet suggested this product and he is feeling so much better. He is perky again and he doesn't have that bloat which was visual. He is so happy now and so am I. It's hard to know when your dog does not feel good. They can't tell you. You really have to watch their behavior. I am so happy with this product. -

Actually works!!!

My cat doesn't like it.
From UndisclosedComments about Calming CareI put Hydra Care out in a bowl next to my cat's feeding area. He has ignored it every day since I started it. I feed him wet food morning and night and have started mixing a teaspoon of it in his food at each feeding and he eats the food. But the packets contain too much to mix it all in. I don't know if it can be refrigerated and re-used over the next few days. If so, I might consider buying it again, but as of now, I'm not. -

It's very easy to use, you sprinkle one packet on top of your dogs food and that's all there is to it. To see the effect, in my experience and using it on my own dog it took about a week. Please note, every dog is different so that timeframe may not apply to your pet. She was having some issues of being very nervous in new surroundings,. From what my veterinarian had told me when a dog gets nervous or anxious it affects the gut. The Calming Care is a probiotic, which helps settle the uneasiness in the belly. She compared it to when people have to stand up in front of a room of strangers and give a speech, they get that queasy feeling in the belly, the probiotics settle all that down. I am so happy that Vetrxdirect carries this product!

I mistakenly ordered the canine Fortiflora instead of the feline Fortiflora. Can I use the canine version with my cat and what is the difference? My cat weighs 9 Ibs. if that is relevant.?

Judy, The FortiFlora feline and canine products contain the same ratio of nutritional components such as protein, fat and fiber as well as the same inactive ingredients. Also, the same microorganism, Enterococcus faecium, is used at the same concentration for both products. The only difference between the two formulations is the addition of taurine in the feline product. According to the manufacturer, taurine has been added for immune system health. Is it ok to mix with water and to use with syringe by mouth? My cat doesnt like and won't eat with food.?

My kitten has terrible gas!! The vet says she is perfectly healthy, possibly just is overly sensitive and I diligently avoid ANY food/treats with grains. Could this possibly help? (It doesn't seem to bother HER-it just chases ME out of the room!)?

FortiFlora is a nutritional supplement that contains probiotics and antioxidants to help support a healthy GI tract, but the manufacturer has not studied the supplement specifically on reducing gas in cats and dogs.
