vet recommended topical treatment for gatua mites in cats
From UndisclosedComments about Advantage Multi for Cats 9.1-18 lbs, 6 Month SupplyWhen Cali came from the rescue at six months, she had itched off a patch of fur around her neck. After the vet did a skin scraping, Cali was diagnosed with microscopic Gatua Mites, a very contagious type of mite. So, both her and her brother, Peppurr, had to be treated together. We started with the first dose of Advantage Multi for Cats twice during the the first month only, and then once monthly thereafter. Simultaneously, the vet used weekly sulfur lime dips with both cats for 7 weeks. She had numerous negative tests thereafter. The dermatology vet said just because you can't see any, doesn't mean they aren't still there. So, I resorted to using Advantage Multi for Cats as their topical ever since. It kills not only the mites, but also fleas, hookworms, round worms and heartworms. Over the winter I sometimes don't use it when it is subzero temps, and they aren't near the screen door nor outside, and I notice that they both scratch more when I don't give it to them. -
We love Advantage Multi!

It is best topical for demodex gatoi mites in cats...
From undisclosedComments about Advantage Multi for CatsMy one rescue cat brought demodex gatoi mites into my home. I began to use Advantage Multi for Cats to kill off mites, starting with a dose then 2 weeks later another dose and then monthly thereafter to them from multiplying. They also got 9 sulfur dips for one cat and 7 sulfur dips for the other cat which really helped more, but was so intense and smelly process. I was told that I have to stay on Advantage for Cats for their entire lives. I sure hope that someone could find a cure to eradicate these parasites completely, as I don't like giving my holistic cats chemicals as strong as these. I surely hope that someone discovers something to kill them off permanently real soon. -
Good product
From undisclosedComments about Advantage Multi for CatsWe use this product on the recommendation of our Vet. It does help keep our cats free of unwanted pests. It is messy to apply to cats who have very dense, rabbit like fur. Also during the summer it needs to be applied every three weeks to be fully effective. -

Easy application, no fleas, great price!
From louisianaComments about Advantage Multi for CatsThis is a great product that is easy to apply and prevents flea infestations. It is supposed to also prevent worms, but I did find a worm on one of my cats. I haven't seen any since then, so perhaps the medicine killed them? Anyways, besides that instance, this treatment works great and the price is fantastic on this website.

I was looking at Dr. Foster & Smith and this Advantage Multi for cats 2-5 lbs said it was compatible with ferrets. Is that true? For some reason even though none of my pets go outside and I always treat the cats monthly it seems every once in awhile my ferret gets fleas, which isn't easy to get rid of with the method I've been told to do.?
-
Advantage Multi for Cats (in the 5-9 lbs only) has now been approved by the FDA for some uses in ferrets over 2 lbs. In ferrets over 2 lbs it is approved for use to kill adult fleas and prevent heartworm disease. Please ask your veterinarian if this medication is appropriate for your pet.
