  • Q:

Can cats use seresto and frontline plus simultaneously?
Asked on 4/20/2015 by Jay P from Hastings-on-Hudson, NY, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

Typically one of these products is used by itself to treat and prevent flea, tick, and lice infestation. There are no studies available with the Seresto collar being used in conjunction with Frontline Plus. Please contact your veterinarian to see if this off-label treatment regimen is appropriate for your pet.

  • Q:

my dog is only 4 lbs, do you think the small collar for flea and tick will fit him?
Asked on 4/16/2015 by adriane from Tallahassee, FL, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

      Adriane,

It says it will work on dogs and puppies 7 weeks and older and up to 18 pounds. It looks like the collar is adjustable so it should work but you can always contact the manufacturer, Bayer, to be sure. They would be able to tell you for sure if it would fit.

  • Q:

Are there any contraindication for use of Seresto, for example with certain meds? I understand that Seresto is probably considered topical, but before I puchase it, I'd like to know if I should be concerned about using on my dog who is on fluoxatine.
Asked on 4/3/2015 by TatsterYaz from New Jersey, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

Seresto contains two insecticides imidacloprid and flumethrin to prevent and treat flea and tick infections and may reduce the risk of tapeworm infections. The collar works by slowly releasing the two insecticides over a period of 8 months for the treatment and prevention of flea and tick infestations. The ingredients in Seresto bind to the natural oils of the skin and hair where they remain and are not absorbed. According to the manufacturer, there are currently no contraindications with prescription medications and Seresto.

  • Q:

is the dosage in the small less then the large? or is the only difference in the size of the collar?
Asked on 5/16/2014 by phillycheese from Harwich, MA, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

The percentages of the active ingredients in each size collar is the same (4.5% flumethrin and 10% imidacloprid) however the percentages are based on the weight of the collar, so the larger collar will have more medication (the small collar is 12.5 grams and the large collar is 45 grams). The manufacturer recommends choosing the appropriate collar for your dog based on the dog's weight, to ensure proper flea and tick coverage.

  • Q:

I put the collars on my dogs Nov 6th 2013, all 5 of my dogs have just started scratching this week. I thought this collar was supposed to last 8 months?
Asked on 4/24/2014 by pats5 from Jeffersonton, VA, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

Any time a pet owner feels that a product is not performing to the standards expected, we encourage pet owners to contact customer service directly. We can provide the best and most immediate assistance in instances such as these. We can be reached 9 am to 5 pm central time, Monday through Friday, and from 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays at 866-761-6578, or you can email us any time at info@vetrxdirect.com.

In particular to your Seresto concerns, the manufacturer had some additional information regarding the effectiveness of the collars. If you are actually seeing fleas (meaning the itching is not caused by environmental allergies which are increasingly common at this time of year) then a decreased effectiveness could be caused by a couple of things. Repeated water exposure (more often than once a month) can decrease the effectiveness of the collars to five months. There are also areas of the country known to have higher flea concentrations, particularly the Southeast and California. These higher flea concentrations can be difficult for any collar to fight on their own, and Seresto can be complemented with Advantage II.

If none of these exceptions apply in your case, the manufacturer may need to be contacted directly. We can help point you in the right direction, if this is needed..

      Thank you,
      VetRxDirect

  • Q:

I have 5 cats all of which are always in our faces or being handled by our kids.  How will the collar effect that?  Is it safe for kids to be around?  This makes me a little nervous.
Asked on 4/17/2014 by LisaT from Sumerduck, VA

    1 answer

    • A:

      Lisa,

The manufacturer states the collar should be kept out of reach of children and to not let children play with the collar. The collar should avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. Ideally, the collar should not be touched unless for application, adjustment, or removal purposes. If you or your children come in contact with the collar make sure to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water. For further information or recommendations on alternate flea and tick preventives please contact your cats' veterinarian.

      Thank you,

Sizing confusing

Comments about Bayer Animal Health Seresto:

This product is amazing, however, they should provide a medium. My dog is right at 20 lbs (2 over the recommended weight for small). She is old, so the large actually seems a bit much. Anyway, I mistakenly ordered a small thinking it was a medium. I discovered the error after I had opened the container. I'm now stuck with the wrong dosage. I just hope it works efficiently.

Comments about Bayer Animal Health Seresto:

Uses to use the Frontline product, then I saw where this collar did so much more for 8 month period. At first I didn't like that our pup seemed like it was just to much but she adjusted to it quickly. The proof will be when the bugs all come out during the Summer months.

Comments about Bayer Animal Health Seresto:

A lady I know told me about this product so have decded to use it. She has 3 Doxins and only uses Seresto. I'm on a budget so I thought I would try it for the first time. She has never had a flea or tick problem but I walk my dog in the woods and I hope it works for me like it does for her. And I ordered his product here becasue the customer service is the best. I forgot about my coupon code and I emailed it to the customer service and asked them to use it. Well they called me and told me they would cancell the order and I could redo the order and use another coupon code becasue the one I had would not work. They helped me save another 10%. I love them because I have been out of work and I love my dog and don't lik to see him suffer and VET Direct RX had helped me out every step of the way!! Thank you so much!!

This really works!

Comments about Bayer Animal Health Seresto:

I bought one of these for one of my rescued Bulldogs, Bozz. He had brain cancer which would occasionally cause him to have seizures and couldn't take Comfortis. I tried this collar on him and it really worked! We have a huge flea problem here in the Deep South. We don't have a tick problem where I live. Seresto collar worked great on Bozz until he went to the Bridge. Sunshine is now wearing it and I love it! We will be getting one for each of our dogs. It works for eight months and I have not seen a flea on Sunshine and never saw one on Bozz.

Really worked well for my dog

Comments about Bayer Animal Health Seresto:

I bought this collar in October of 2013 and my dog had fleas and was not responding to some of the other brands of flea treatment applied to the skin between his shoulders. This collar did not cause any reaction and my dog has been able to tolerate the collar the whole 8 months. I am going to my another collar and would recommend it to anyone looking for flea control that lasts long and has an older dog that doesn't do well with topical flea products.
