Proin

When your dog is incontinent it’s uncomfortable for your pet and a messy problem for you. Talk to your veterinarian about Proin, a prescription medication for treating urinary incontinence. Proin reduces leakage by tightening the bladder sphincter muscle.

  • Manages urinary incontinence in dogs
  • Tightens the bladder sphincter muscle to control urine leakage
  • Choose easy dosing liquid or chewable tablets

Age, disease, urinary stones, and even injury can cause a dog to loose complete control over her bladder. When that happens even a housetrained pet may dribble urine or loose large amounts of  urine suddenly. If your dog has urinary incontinence, prescription Proin may help.  The active ingredient in Proin, phenylpropanolamine, is a type of stimulant that causes the muscles in the bladder to contract therefore reducing urine leakage. Given over time, Proin keeps a constant level of phenylpropanolamine in the blood so your dog will have more bladder control. Note: Proin is classified as a controlled substance in our home state of Iowa, so prescriptions for Proin are only valid for six months. We must obtain a new prescription from your veterinarian every six months. Refill requests that exceed six months from the prescription date are not valid for this medication.
