  • Q:

My kitten has terrible gas!!  The vet says she is perfectly healthy, possibly just is overly sensitive and I diligently avoid ANY food/treats with grains.  Could this possibly help? (It doesn't seem to bother HER-it just chases ME out of the room!)
Asked on 6/1/2014 by LeelasMom from Honesdale, PA, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

FortiFlora is a nutritional supplement that contains probiotics and antioxidants to help support a healthy GI tract, but the manufacturer has not studied the supplement specifically on reducing gas in cats and dogs. However, since this supplement helps with promoting intestinal health there is a possibility that it may help with reducing gas.

  • Q:

Can Fortiflora be given to a diabetic, mega-colon, old cat??
Asked on 4/7/2014 by Scoot from NC, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

There are reported cases of cats with diabetes using FortiFlora and not having any adverse events. The only contraindication for using FortiFlora in a pet would be if their immune system is severely compromised. For further information on FortiFlora in you cat contact your cat's veterinarian.

  • Q:

What is the difference between this product and human probiotics?
    Asked on 11/23/2013 by Phillip

    1 answer

    • A:

      Phillip,

Fortiflora, just like all probiotics, contain live organisms to help promote intestinal health. Probiotics will vary to some degree, differing from the potency and number of different live organisms; fungus and bacteria. The choice of bacteria strain for FortiFlora has been specifically chosen for cats and dogs and also includes other ingredients: protein, fat, and fiber.

      Thank you,

Comments about Nestle Purina FortiFlora for Cats:

I tried everything to get my cat to stop having smelly stools and diarrhea. FortiFlora helped immediately. But, when I thought it was safe to stop, within 2 days my cat had the same terrible symptoms. I started again, and the next day, his sools were firm and normal looking. FortiFlora saved the day and I will be a longtime user of this great and safe product! BTW, it also acts as a stimulant for cats that are picky about eating. I add a small amount to my other cat's food and he eats so much more now!! ONLY FEED CATS WET FOOD!!! I never new dry food was really bad for the animals. Trust me!

Comments about Nestle Purina FortiFlora for Cats:

I was at my witts end until my vet suggested this to me after a 3rd visit with my 3 legged fluffa - who happens to be a maine coon cat with long hair. Due to his hind leg being gone he has trouble burying his stuff. He had had loose stools ever since i found him which was getting worse. Within 2 to 3 feedings his stools returned to normal. This was such a god send- trying to clean his bottom and furr was very unpleasant. It has no smell and is much less stressful on the pet than trying to get a pill down. Highly suggest this.

Comments about Nestle Purina FortiFlora for Cats:

I purchase this monthly for my eight year old cat who suffers from loose stools from time to time...has made all the difference in his health! I mix a packet into a serving of canned chicken cat food. My other kitty also likes the taste, and the vet has assured me it is fine for him as well...it's also much more affordable from VetRx Direct!!
