Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that effectively treats a host of bacterial infections. This formulation puts the power of Ciprofloxacin in eye drop form for treating eye infections in dogs and cats.
Veterinarians prescribe Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic eye drops to treat bacterial infections of the eye and eyelid including conjunctivitis. Ciprofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. This broad-spectrum medication is safe and effectively kills a range of bacteria that can damage the eye. The medication works by stopping the bacteria from making DNA, which kills the bacteria and stops the infection. Ciprofloxacin Ophthalmic must be given for several days in a row as prescribed by your pet's veterinarian to be effective. This is not a preventive medicine. The bottle comes with a dropper top to make it easier to administer the drops into your pet’s eyes.

Resistance is a major concern when giving antibiotics. Resistance occurs when bacteria survive and mutate and are then able to survive even after antibiotics are given. To help avoid any resistance, it is important to give antibiotics as they are prescribed for as long as they are prescribed even if your pet is looking and feeling better.
