Previcox is the brand name medication for firocoxib, available in an easy-to-give chewable tablet. Previcox is a medication in the class of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs. This medication has more selectivity than other NSAIDs, which may reduce some of the side effects. Previcox is indicated for the control of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis and surgery.
Previcox should be used at the lowest dose for the shortest amount of time possible. Previcox should not be combined with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids. Previcox may be associated with kidney, stomach, or liver toxicity. The use of Previcox is cautioned in dehydrated dogs, dogs on diuretic therapy, dogs with existing kidney, hepatic, or heart dysfunction. Previcox interacts with other medications so ask your pet's veterinarian or VetRxDirect Pharmacist about your pet’s current medications.
