Good service and excellent price
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)This prescription is a lot less than retail pharmacies and just as good. I'm so happy I was able to find a way to keep my baby well without mortgaging my house. -
Life Saving Medicine
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded) 0.5mg CapsuleThis is Maggi's Medicine. She has addison's disease so without it twice a day she would not be here. It has saved her life. She gets it twice a day along with prednisone and omeprazole inside a quarter of a hot dog. Her sister Maeve gets the other quarter so she doesn't feel left out! The medicine is great because it's compounded. Without it she would be taking 5 pills in place of this one small capsule. The pricing has changed over the last year so it does cost more now but it is well worth it. -
Lifesaving Medication reliably delivered.
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded) 0.4mg CapsuleOur dog Dana has Addison's disease and must take Fludrocortisone twice a day. Without it she cannot manage any kind of stress and would quickly succumb to an Addisons crisis which can quickly become lethal. What we appreciate about Vetrxdirect is that they always compound and ship Dana's medication promptly and keep us informed when it is shipped so we don't inadvertently leave it in the mailbox. When a new Rx is needed they promptly contact our vet. Dana was diagnosed with Addisons at age four, and today she is a healthy, happy ten year old girl. -
Life saving!
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)This is a life saving medication for a dog with Addison's disease. Buddy was rescued as a senior and is only alive because of this needed medication. He had become very weak as time went on. Once diagnosed and started on Fludrocortisone, he now loves to trot a mile every day. -
K9 Goodness
From Phoenix, AZComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)This might sound horrible, but it is the best review I can give: My dog is still alive and has not had a health incident (related or otherwise) since taking his custom medicine. This means: he gets what is intended for him at the correct dosage. I don't know what else to say, genuine, accurate, clean product. -
Going to buy this again!
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)This saved me hundreds of dollars if not thousands in the long run depending on how long my pet lives! I got the medicine compounded and saved over 75%! -
Saved my dog's life
From Philadelphia, PAComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)Our 90lbs St. Bernard/Boxer mix was diagnosed with Addison's disease. The shots were extremely expensive and we thought we would have to put him down. Fortunately our vet recommended Fludrocortisone pills and we found VetRx. It is a great treatment instead of the shots and VetRx has been great to work with. -
I will recommend this again and again
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)This medication helps my 5 years old baby to get better fighting his addison desease. Mack is doing better now thanks to this medicine. -
I would buy this product again and again
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)Giving my dog a pill is a lot easier than receiving month shots. Giving her health condition.. -
Fludrocortisone Saved my Dogs Life
From UndisclosedComments about Fludrocortisone (Compounded)My 2 year old dog was diagnosed with Addison's disease at the end of 2017. Prior to her diagnosis and putting her on this medication, we had spent over $5,000 in medical bills with no improvements. She had gotten so bad that we took her into an after hours vet one night to put her down. As a last ditch effort, the new vet diagnosed her and recommended we try this medication, within a matter of weeks she was a different dog. She takes one pill a day and she has been healthy and happy ever since. VetRxDirect is great at sending text reminders where you can reply to order new products and she hasn't missed a pill in almost a year. This medication saved my dog's life and I am so grateful every day. After a really rough start for my baby, she now works as a service animal and has had a decade added to her life.
Q & A
-
We currently use Fludrocortisone Acetate (0.4 mg) compounded by a local pharmacy that is far too expensive. Is this the same as the "Acetate"??
-
Both the commercially produced tablets and the compounded capsules sold by VetRxDirect use the acetate salt form of Fludrocortisone.

I typically order Fludrocortisone 0.6 but my dogs dose has increased to 0.7. I do not see the option for 0.7 compounded on the website.?
-
One option for obtaining the 0.7mg dosage may be via combining two available strengths on our website. Please call us at 1-866-761-6578 for additional available strength information. Please contact your dog's veterinarian to check if this medication is appropriate for your dog and to obtain a prescription.

My dog has Addisons disease and takes an injection of Percorten v each month. Is this product the same as Percorten? Can it be used in lieu of Percorten? Do I have to have a prescription from the vet to have the compounded product??
-
A prescription is needed to compound this product. Fludrocortisone is not the same medication as Percorten-V. The active ingredient in Percorten-V is desoxycorticosterone pivalate. Fludrocortisone can be used as an alternative to Percorten-V for the treatment of Addison's Disease. Percorten-V is an injectable medication given approximately every 21-30 days while Fludrocortisone capsules must be given orally daily. It is more common to see an increase in the dose as time goes on with Fludrocortisone than with Percorten-V. It is best to discuss with your veterinarian what the best option is for your pet.

will these compouned capsuls work the exact same way as the fludrocortison that I now give my dog from a reg. pharmacy??
-
Lexi, Fludrocortisone acetate is a prescription mineralocorticoid used in the treatment of Addison’s disease (adrenocortical insufficiency) in a variety of small animals. The 0.1mg fludrocortisone acetate tablets available from VetRxDirect are a commercially available generic version of Florinef 0.1mg tablets. The 0.1mg fludrocortisone acetate tablets will be the same strength as what you can get from your regular pharmacy. VetRxDirect can also compound custom strengths of fludrocortisone capsules to meet the requirements of your animal. Contact your veterinarian to determine the best course of therapy for your animal. Thank you, VetRxDirect

Can you break in half so you can give half in the morning and half at night? The half life worries me that she will crash overnight.?
-
Tanya, We do not recommend splitting capsules, as it can be difficult to ensure even dosing. Fludrocortisone is available in a 0.3mg capsule, so that you would be able to give the prescribed dose in the morning and evening without needing to split a larger strength. Thank you, VetRxDirect
