  • Q:

My beagle accidentally ate 3 of the chewable tablets meant for my Akita. I read that 2 would be the appropriate dosage for him but will the extra tablet hurt him????
Asked on 2/18/2015 by Kat61 from NC, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

Synovial-Flex is a joint support supplement containing glucosamine hcl, msm, creatine monohydrate, perna canaliculus, omega-3-fatty acids and antioxidants, that may help relieve joint discomfort when given daily in dogs and cats. The manufacturer provides directions of use that includes initial dosing and maintenance dosing based on the weight of the animal. An accidental ingestion of 1 extra chewable based on the weight of your dog would not be expected to cause any significant adverse events. Mild gastrointestinal upset may be a possibility. Continue to monitor your pet and contact your veterinarian if any side effects are noted.

      Minnie,

The recommended dosage for the Synovial Flex Minis are as follows:

      Initial Administration: (4-6 weeks)
      5 to 10 pounds: 1 chew daily
      11 to 20 pounds: 2 chews daily
      21 to 30 pounds: 3 chews daily
      31 to 40 pounds: 4 chews daily

      Maintenance Administration:
      5 to 10 pounds: 1/2 chew daily
      11 to 20 pounds: 1 chew daily
      21 to 30 pounds: 1 1/2 chews daily
      31 to 40 pounds: 2 chews daily

The recommended dosage for the Synovial Flex Soft Chews are as follows:

      Initial Administration: (4-6 weeks)
5 to 15 pounds: 1/2 chew per day
16 to 30 pounds: 1 chew per day
31 to 60 pounds: 2 chews per day
61 to 100 pounds: 4 chews per day
Over 100 pounds: 5 chews per day

      Maintenance Administration:
5 to 30 pounds: may reduce to every other day serving
31 to 60 pounds: 1 chew per day
61 to 100 pounds: 2 chews per day
Over 100 pounds: 2-1/2 chews per day

Hopefully that helps clear up the dosage question!

  • Q:

My dog weighs under 8 lbs....would the tub of chew expire before they were gone? what is the expiration time on a tub. My vet recomended this product to me
Asked on 4/10/2014 by Susan111 from Jacksonville Oregon US of A

    1 answer

    • A:

      Susan111,

Our Synovial-Flex Soft Chews currently have about 1 1/2 year dating. So you will be fine ordering the small tubs of chews. Another concern is the possibility of the chews drying out by opening the container every day or every other day. Another reason to stick with the small tub.

Several of the Synovial-Flex products are only labeled for use in dogs. Consultation from a veterinarian is recommended prior to using this product.

  • Q:

what is the recommended dosage for a 44 lb. shepher mix who has had ACL surgery on both hind legs? Surgeries were 2 years ago. She is fully recovered and active, but I want to keep her joints healthy for extra support.
Asked on 2/12/2014 by droz from Los Angeles, CA, United States

    1 answer

    • A:

The manufacturer recommends the dosing schedule as listed below:

      Initial Administration: (4-6 weeks)
5 to 15 pounds 1/2 chew per day
16 to 30 pounds 1 chew per day
31 to 60 pounds 2 chews per day
61 to 100 pounds 4 chews per day
Over 100 pounds 5 chews per day

      Maintenance Administration:
5 to 30 pounds may reduce to every other day serving
31 to 60 pounds 1 chew per day
61 to 100 pounds 2 chews per day
Over 100 pounds 2-1/2 chews per day

The manufacturer recommends giving the chew during or after the dog has eaten to reduce occurrences of stomach upset. There is not specific information provided regarding dogs who have had joint injuries. Unless directed otherwise by your dog's veterinarian, you should follow the manufacturer's dosing recommendation.

My pups have been taking Synovial Soft Chews for a couple years. They gobble them up like treats! They really seem to help/prevent joint problems. One of my dogs has had multiple surgeries on her knee and you would never know it! My only problem/concern is that my last 2 orders weren?t as soft/fresh as they typically are. They were a bit hard which was disappointing. I always get my shipments quick and I like the added touch of the extra treat included with the order.

I have repeatedly purchased Synovial soft Chews from Vetrxdirect and in the past the product has been superior. However we received a 120 count of soft chews to find this shipment wasn't soft at all. The product looks and smells the same except that they are much harder and seem stale. Normally we use the chews as a delivery method for my pets meds by pushing the pill into the chew works greaty NORMALLY. Not so with this batch, the chew is hard and tends to crumble,

      Comments about Sogeval Synovial-Flex:

I haven't opened the latest purchase yet because I still have a few left of the previous container. We are really happy with the previous purchases of this product. Before using this he was having trouble jumping up on the sofa or the bench he uses to hop on the bed. Since he has been taking this he seems more agile and active like he was when he was younger. I think it really works. Our Vet had recommended it and sold it to us from his office but charged a lot more than VetRx Direct does. My newest purchase is in a different container so I hope it is the same product. Looks like it's a different manufacturer. I opened it and peeked inside. It looks a little different so when we start using it I will write another review. Our dog, Toby, is a Shih Tzu and he loves the taste and chewy texture. We have to cut it into 4 pieces for him because he has such a small mouth but it's treat time when we give it to him.

Typically this is a good product but the last 3 purchases the chews have been hard not soft & chewy like usual. Because of this I'm not sure how old or how long the product has been sitting around before I order it. They just don't seem as fresh as they used to be.

With my vets permission I have started my boy on this product. He is 17 mos. old and having joint
issues. He is a rescue and was kept in a crate three sizes to small for him and it has affected
his legs. Poor guy walks with a limp.

I learned about this product as I am a rescuer and the vet we use puts our boxers on this is they have any joint or arthritis.
