PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
K-Pectin is an anti-diarrheal for relieving irritation, discomfort and cramps associated with diarrhea. K-Pectin
combines Kaolin, which is an anti-diarrheal medicine additive for the absorption of toxins, and Pectin, which
is a soluble dietary fiber naturally present in citrus fruits.

K-Pectin comes in a palatable liquid form for ease of use.


USES:
Kaolin Pectin Anti-Diarrheal for cats, dogs, birds, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, sheep and goats.
INGREDIENTS:


Ingredients: Each fluid ounce (2 tablespoons) contains:
Kaolin - 90 gr and Pectin - 4 gr
1 Tsp = Approx. 75 drops
1 Tbsp = Approx. 230 drops
2 Tbsp = Approx. 1 fl. oz.


DIRECTIONS:
Shake well before each use. Mix K-Pectin with food, water or
feed directly from teaspoon. There should be a noticeable
improvement within 2 to 3 days.

Dogs and Cats:
0-5 lbs. ......................................................... 1 tsp every 4 hrs.
6-15 lbs. ...................................................... 2 tsp every 4 hrs.
16-30 lbs. ....................................................... 1 T. every 4 hrs.
Over 30 lbs. .................................................. 2 T. every 4 hrs.
Birds:
Keets, Canary, Finch ..............................................1-3 drops

Why has my veterinarian prescribed K-Pectin?

Kaolin and pectin are used to treat diarrhea. They may also be used to relieve the symptoms of an upset stomach and nausea. Occasionally this medication may be used as an adsorbent (a substance to minimize absorption) if the pet has ingested certain toxins.

 

How do I give K-Pectin?

  • Give this medication to your pet as directed by your veterinarian. READ THE LABEL CAREFULLY.
  • If the medicine is a liquid, shake well before using and measure the dose with reasonable care.
  • Try to give this medication at about the same time each day.
  • DO NOT give the pet more medicine than directed and do not give more often than directed.
  • Try not to miss giving any doses.

 

What if I miss giving a dose?

Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give the pet two doses at once.

 

How do I store K-Pectin?

  • Keep this medicine out of reach of children.
  • Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight.
  • Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.

 

What are the potential side effects?

"Constipation may occur in some cases."
  • There are few reported side effects with this medication.
  • Constipation may occur in some cases.
  • Contact your veterinarian if the diarrhea persists or if the pet appears listless or has a high fever.
  • Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.

 

Are there any possible drug interactions?

  • Make sure to tell your veterinarian if you are giving your pet any other medication or supplements.
  • Quite often, your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, and sometimes a drug interaction may be anticipated. If this occurs, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.
  • The following drugs can potentially interact with kaolin and pectin: lincomycin, and digoxin.
  • Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
