Doxycycline is a semi-synthetic tetracycline antibiotic prescribed to treat various bacterial infections such as urinary tract and bladder infections. Veterinarians also use Doxycycline to treat some diseases such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and Lyme disease.
Veterinarians prescribe Doxycycline because it’s a strong, effective antibiotic with extended effectiveness against some diseases. Your dog may take Doxycycline to treat a short-term bacterial infection such as a urinary tract or bladder infection. Or your pet's veterinarian may recommend Doxycycline to treat a longer-term disease such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme Disease, Ehrlichiosis, or chlamydia. This medication prevents bacteria from reproducing so the animal’s immune system can fight the existing infection. Talk to your pet's veterinarian about the proper way to dose Doxycycline to avoid potential side effects.

Resistance is a major concern when giving antibiotics. Resistance occurs when bacteria survive and mutate and are then able to survive even after antibiotics are given. To help avoid any resistance, it is important to give antibiotics as they are prescribed for as long as they are prescribed even if your pet is looking and feeling better.

Comments about Putney Doxycycline Hyclate Tablet:
I cannot count how many times this Rx has been filled and refilled for my 18-year-old-(ish), and STILL, every time, the infection disappears almost overnight. Very gratifying to watch Poor Kitty sneeze without gobs of goo flying everywhere! According to my vet, some of the more stubborn cases never really go, they just go dormant for a couple of weeks, or months, only to return with an attitude! Good old Doxycycline! It's keeping our Little Big Man a happy youngster, if not a little obnoxious... we've already received the antibiotics via Mail Order Vet, crushed a quarter of a pill, and got it down the Leader of The Pack, who then swallowed both pills! Success!
