DermaBenSs is a gentle, pH balanced shampoo, containing Benzoyl Peroxide (2.5%), sulfur (1%) and salicylic acid (1%). Natural moisturizing factors, antioxidants, vitamin E and an elegant natural fragrance. Cruelty free, environmentally sensitive and contains no animal protein, dyes, or soaps. All contents are biodegradable.

Indications: Topical treatment of seborrhea complex and conditions where a degreasing, follicle-flushing keratolytic shampoo may be beneficial.

Directions: Shake well before each use. Use DermaLyte Shampoo as a primer. Rub DermaBenSs into skin and/or coat until lightly lathered. Wait 5 to 10 minutes and rinse well. Use daily or as directed by vet.

Hot Spots: Clip hair off area, preferably with a #40 clipper blade and apply, rinse, then use DermAllay Conditioner to relieve associated dryness of skin and coat.

Caution: For external use only on domestic animals. Avoid contact with eyes or mucous membranes. May bleach colored fabric. If irritation develops, discontinue use. Contact hypersensitivity has been seen in humans at a rate of 1-2%, although as yet is unreported in dogs and cats. Keep out of reach of children. Store at room temperature (59-86°F).

General Description:

Benzoyl peroxide + Sulfur + Salicylic acid shampoo is an antibacterial, antifungal, keratolytic, keratoplastic and follicular flushing shampoo useful in the topical treatment of pyoderma, foliculitis and seborrheic skin conditions in of dogs, cats and horses. Benzoyl peroxide + Sulfur + Salicylic acid shampoo opens and flushes hair follicles and degreases oily coats. Moisturizers counteract the drying effects of the oxidizing benzoyl peroxide. The shampoo may temporarily increase scaliness, but this will lessen with continued bathing. Sulfur and salicylic acid will help normalize keratinization and reduce scale formation. Benzoyl peroxide + Sulfur + Salicylic acid shampoo is available in 2.5% or 3% strengths, and is marketed in several sizes.

What is this product?

Reasons for prescribing:
  • Used to treat red, itchy and inflamed skin, seborrhea, canine and feline acne and other conditions where a keratolytic and keratoplastic product might be helpful
  • Degreases oily, smelly and scaly coats
What animals should not use this product?
  • Those with dry or sensitive skin
  • Animals with a known hypersensitivity or allergy to benzoyl peroxide, sulfur or salicylic acid or any of the other ingredients
Directions:

Read and carefully follow the directions provided by your veterinarian.
Shake well. Wet coat thoroughly before applying shampoo. Apply shampoo to head and ears, neck, chest, middle and hind quarters, finishing with the legs. Massage shampoo into the wet coat until a light lather is produced. Allow the lather to remain on the animal for 5-10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. For best results, repeat procedure.
Follow your veterinarian’s advice on the frequency of product application, as products vary.
Systemic antibiotic treatment may be indicated if the condition does not improve.
The frequency and length of use of this product depends upon the condition being treated and your animal’s response to the medication.
The shampoo may temporarily increase scaliness, but this will lessen with continued bathing.
As with any medicated shampoo, gloves should be worn when applying this product.

What if a treatment is missed?

If a treatment is missed, perform it as soon as you can. If it is already time for the next treatment, skip the missed treatment and go back to the normal schedule.

Storage and Warnings:

For topical use only on dogs, cats and horses.
Discontinue use if skin becomes irritated or inflamed.
May bleach or stain carpets and fabric if animal is not thoroughly rinsed.
Store at controlled room temperature (59-86°F).
Avoid getting it in your animal's eyes, ears or mucous membranes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a veterinarian.
Keep this and all medication out of reach of children and animals. For external animal use only.
Wash hands and exposed skin after use.

Most human products contain 5-10% benzoyl peroxide and should not be used as they can be very irritating to animals.
